We took a family pilgrimage down to Corpus Christi. On the way down we stopped in the cleanest little city Shiner! This is my FAVORITE place in the world (Rome is a close 2nd)! I went and ran a half marathon and the family enjoyed the beautiful church, the free breakfast at the hotel. We then end with us arriving at Corpus to enjoy some beach time! Next week I'll have more on Corpus Christi.
Thanks for viewing, sharing, commenting, and hitting that thumbs up!

Shiner Blonde - The Spit or Swallow Beer Review
Shagdog & Jammer find a Blonde, a Shiner Blonde that is!
Shiner Blonde — Blonde is the direct descendant of Spoetzl's earliest brew. Although Blonde has carried numerous names, such as Shiner Special, Shiner Premium, and Shiner Texas Special, the recipe has been virtually unchanged since it was first brewed in 1909. For this reason, Blonde carries Brew Kettle No. 1 on its label.

Spoetzl Brewery is a brewery located in Shiner, Texas, USA. The brewery produces the popular line of Shiner Beers, including their flagship Shiner Bock, a dark lager that is now distributed in 43 states. The brewery is owned by The Gambrinus Company, a family-owned company in San Antonio.
Spoetzl was founded in 1909, and is the oldest independent brewery in Texas. A group of businessmen incorporated Shiner Brewing Association and placed Herman Weiss in as the company's first brewmaster. In 1914 a German immigrant brewer named Kosmas (or Kosmos) Spoetzl co-leased with Oswald Petzold with an option to buy in 1915. Spoetzl had attended brewmaster's school and apprenticed for three years in Germany, worked for eight years at the Pyramids Brewery in Cairo, Egypt, and then worked in Canada. He moved to San Antonio in search of a better climate for his health, bringing with him a family recipe for a Bavarian beer made from malted barley and hops.
During Prohibition, Kosmos Spoetzl kept the brewery afloat by selling ice and making near beer. After Prohibition only five of the original 13 Texas breweries were still intact. When the Prohibition laws were repealed, larger beer plants, such as Anheuser-Busch, moved to Texas making life harder on the smaller independent breweries, but Spoetzl kept things small and simple, never going more than 70 miles for business.
In 2005, Spoetzl began producing a yearly brew in a progressive, anticipatory celebration of its 2009 centennial anniversary. The centennial program began developing and producing one special celebratory beer in small batches. The name of each such specialty beer corresponds to the age of the brewery: Shiner 96 was the specialty beer of 2005, Shiner 97 for 2006, and so forth. For the first two years, Spoetzl brewed Shiner 96 and Shiner 97 only from September through mid-December. Shiner 98 was released four months earlier in 2007 — in May — while Shiner 99 entered the market even two months earlier, in March 2008. Shiner 100 had the longest run of all the anniversary beers, seeing production all year long in 2009. After each beer's specified production run has ended, that year's beer is retired. However, Shiner 97 proved to be so popular that in 2008 Spoetzl brought the beer back as Shiner Bohemian Black Lager and made it a permanent part of the lineup. The Spoetzl Brewery originally intended to conclude its centennial beer production in 2009 with Shiner 100, but has since decided to continue the program on indefinitely. For 2009, Spoetzl also changed the neck label for all their beers. The labels proclaimed Spoetzl's 100th anniversary and include the tag line Here's to a century of independent brewing. Prosit! All the neck labels are similar, but each beer's label mimics the beer's signature colors.
In the 1970s and 1980s the brewery's Shiner Beer and Shiner Bock had less than 1 percent of the Texas market. In 1983 Spoetzl produced 60,000 barrels of beer; in 1990 only 36,000. Sales improved after Carlos Alvarez of San Antonio acquired the brewery in 1989: Production grew to 100,000 barrels in 1994, and over the next ten years, production nearly tripled. The company now has 85 employees.
As of 2012, it was the fourth-largest craft brewery and tenth-largest overall brewery in the United States.

Shiner Bock ~ Quick Beer Review
Shiner Bock Quick Review
This is suppose to be a really quick review on Shiner Bock so you can get back to doing whatever you were doing before this video.
Shiner Bock is a dark larger, brewed in Shiner, TX. They have been brewing Bock since 1913 and it is sold Year-Round. Since Shiner Bock is Spoetzl's flagship beer around 73% of the beer made at the Spoetzl Brewery is Bock.
You can get Shiner Bock at pretty much any liquor store, gas station, grocery store, etc. I would be very surprised since Spoetzl is now the 5th largest Brewery in Texas that you won't be able to find it.
This review is not meant to give you a bunch of details about a particular beer. It is here to give you a quick review so you can decide whether to spend your hard earned cash on this beer or not.

Bohemian Pilsners are golden, highly carbonated beers that orginated in the city of Pilsen, Bohemia (today known as the Czech Republic). Bohemian Pilsner flavors are clean with a complex malt beer balanced by a notable Noble hop bitterness.
Pilsners date to the 1840's and they make use of then newly available pale malts which were made possible through the use of clean burning coke as fuel for malting kilns.
In 1839, the citizens of Pilsen decided to found and build a brewery of their own, called Burger Brauerei (now Plzensk-Prazdroj). They then recruited the Bavarian brewer Josef Groll (1813 - 1887) who, using new techniques and the newly available paler malts, presented his first batch of modern Pilsner on October 5th, 1842. The combination of pale color from the new malts, Pilsen's remarkably soft water, noble hops from nearby Saaz and Bavarian-style lagering produced a clear, golden beer which was regarded as a sensation.
Improving transport and communications also meant that this new beer was soon available throughout Central Europe, and the Pilsner Brauart style of brewing was soon widely imitated. In 1859, Pilsner Bier was registered as a brand name at the Chamber of Commerce and Trade in Pilsen. In 1898, the Pilsner Urquell trade mark was created to put emphasis on being the original brewery.

Shagdog & Jammer on a wing and a prayer with Shiner White Wing Belgian White Ale.
Brewed by: Spoetzl Brewery Texas, United States
This beer rules the roost! Brewed with authentic Belgian yeast, hints of coriander, and orange peel. White Wing has all the spice and citrus aroma of a true to style Belgian wheat ale. Slightly sweet and highly drinkable, it's a delightfully odd bird.
