A nice flat walk started off along the tarmac road for ½ Miles spoilt with beer cans and rubbish thrown out by passing cars, mainly fields and up the middle of Spofforth Golf Course some nice grit stone boulders along my route and some friendly sheep.

Spofforth was the main seat of the Percy family - one of the most important and influential families in northern England - until the late 14th century. William de Percy, a favourite of William the Conqueror, built a manor house here in the 11th century, and it was reputedly here that rebel barons drew up Magna Carta in 1215. The surviving remains are those of a fortified manor house, dating mainly from the 14th and 15th centuries.

In the morning, Poppy and I took a walk into Boroughbridge for a look at the town and the Marina. In the afternoon we drove to Spofforth Castle, after finding several places closed.

An event held at Spofforth Cricket Club, near Wetherby, where around 170 childrens from two local primary school Spofforth and Follifoot enjoyed the afternoon playing many cricketing activities.
