Motoi Yamamoto's Return to the Sea: Saltworks -- Spoleto Festival USA at the College of Charleston
-- Free and open to the public -- College of Charleston's Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art has organized a major traveling exhibition of new work by contemporary Japanese artist Motoi Yamamoto. The exhibition will premiere in Charleston, SC May 24-July 7, 2012, as a featured presentation of the Spoleto Festival USA. Return to the Sea: Saltworks by Motoi Yamamoto will travel nationally after its inaugural presentation, including stops in Los Angeles, CA, Charlotte, NC, and Monterey, CA. The centerpiece of the exhibition will be a site-specific installation created entirely out of salt by the artist during his two-week residency at the Halsey Institute on the campus of the College of Charleston in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.

The Calvin Edwards Trio - Walkin'
The Calvin Edwards Trio performing Walkin', a song written by Calvin Edwards himself at The Fall for Greenville Festival on October 13, 2017 in Greenville, SC.
Calvin Edwards is an international artist, accomplished musician, vocalist, songwriter and producer. He has created his own sound that in itself is a task to overcome. He was born in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. At the age of six, he began to play the guitar. His father, a well-known songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist was on the gospel music scene, and his mother helped to shape his career. At 17, he joined the famous Gospel group, The Five Blind Boys of Alabama. He played with them for many years, and then moved to L.A. to play in his brother’s band, The Jett Edwards Band. They recorded two albums together, and Mr. George Benson recorded one of the songs.
He has performed in Okinawa, Tokyo, and China as well as performing for the G8 Summit for President Clinton in Okinawa.
Mr. Edwards has released four CD’s as a band director, and performed with and/or booked various artist through Chasity Music including Tom Brown, Tuck & Patti, Michael White, Kei Akagi, Lonnie Plaxico, Benny Maupin, Hidefumi Toke, Javon Jackson, Michael O’Neil, Ron Brown, Ali Jackson, Michael Paluo, Michael Wolf, Roy Ayers, Everette Harp, Dan Siegel, Phil Perry.
Calvin is now performing in the USA and has played in San Francisco, New York, Charleston, including the 2005 NAMM SHOW in Anahiem, CA, the Romare Bearden 99th Birthday Bash, the grand-opening of the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC, the Fall for Greenville event in SC, the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC, the Charlotte Jazz Festival in Charlotte, NC, Duke University in Durham, NC, Wake Forest University in Winston Salem NC, the Guilford College Homecoming in Greensboro, NC.
