Cape Verde, also known as Cabo Verde, is made up of 10 major islands about 560 km (350 miles) off the west coast of Africa. Located in the central Atlantic Ocean, the archipelago was formed by volcanic action millions of years ago, though some islands have experienced eruptions in more recent history. Discovered by Portuguese explores in 1462, it was a colony of Portugal until gaining independence in 1976.
#Sal
It’s easy to guess what Sal’s main industry once was: The name translates as “salt.” Most of the salt mined in the 19th century was exported to Brazil; salt today is mined mainly for tourists to take home and for local use. Sal is now a popular tourist destination, having the main international airport in Cape Verde. It’s mainly a flat, sandy island, with winter trade winds turning it into a Mecca for surfers. There’s sunshine almost every day and just what is rain anyway? Espargos is the island’s political and economic capital, while Pedra Luna is known for its leaning church.
#Boa_Vista
Mountains, desert and beaches combine to make Boa Vista, Cape Verde’s third largest island, a good place to visit. With a name that translates as “beautiful view,” could it be anything else? More tourists are discovering the island, the closest to Africa, since an international airport opened in 2007. Be sure to check out the beautiful colonial style church near the square in Sal Rei, the island’s capital city.
#Santo_Antao
Santo Antao, the second largest of the Cape Verdean islands, is famous for its mountains. Though it seems desolate in some places, the island also features lush subtropical vegetation, such as fir, pine, and date and coconut palms. Ribeira Grande, the island’s capital and largest city, is a lively place
#Santiago
Santiago Island is the largest Cape Verde island; it’s where half the country’s people live. The first of the islands to be settled, it is home to the country’s capital, Praia. The island is a good place to see some of nature’s endangered species, including 38 plants and several rare birds. The island has a diverse landscape to enjoy: mountains, green valleys, sandy beaches (Praia Pranha is tops) and the country’s largest and oldest tree, a kapok that is 500 years old.
#Santa Luzia
Cape Verde’s smallest island is basically uninhabited but draws yachters like honey draws flies. The island is low-lying, which. means lots of sunshine, and the northeasterly trade winds make it a popular, but isolated, anchorage for yachts.

Cape Verde Amusement Park - Investor Highlights
We are building Cape Verde's first amusement park, capable of handling 5,000 visitors per month, to provide entertainment alternatives for tens of thousands of local youth and their families. We are seeking USD$625 thousand of venture capital and/or loans to be used for completing the remaining 5% of construction work and to purchase all of the equipment for the park and restaurant.
If financed entirely by equity, the after-tax ROI is 43-45% with a 3 year breakeven.
The park will offer 4-5 rides plus 5 amusements (e.g., mini-golf, rock climbing, games of chance, etc.), a water-park with slides, a game arcade, 2 pools, a restaurant and private party rooms which can be rented.
Cape Verde is a poor African country, but the prices for using the park attractions are easily affordable by even the poorest families. Furthermore, the City of Praia will provide tickets to those families who have no disposable income. The local government sees the Park as a way to keep poor kids off the streets, provide them with alternative outlets for entertainment, and keep families together. The financial commitments by the City are covered by the already-signed contractual agreement between the Park and the City. Thus, the Park is recession-proof, poverty-proof and helps maintain the social order.
The demographics are compelling: half the population of 1/2 million is young, i.e., under age 22, and one-third are under 15. The youth, children and their parents are the target market for the Park. In addition, thousands of immigrants return home from Europe and the USA for vacations and will also use the Park and will pay substantial sums to entertain their local family members.
Current status: the construction of the park is 95% complete. The remaining capital raised will be invested in completing the remaining construction and purchasing all of the equipment for the park and the restaurant. Once funding is committed, we expect the park to be completed and operational within 3 months. All registrations, licenses, land leases and contracts are already in place! The staff will be hired and trained during the 3 month completion period.

Going anywhere nice this year?
The resorts of Spain have once again topped the list of the UK's most searched for travel destinations, just ahead of New York, while Estonia and Iraq were the fastest rising searched for destinations in 2011.
That's according to a new travel trends report from travel search site Skyscanner, which details the most searched for destinations on their website in 2011 and predicts the hottest travel spots in 2012.
Some of the picks for 2012 include the Cape Verde Islands -- which have opened to tourism over the last five years thanks to an increase in hotels as well as charter flights and package holidays. The Islands ranked third on the list of emerging destinations in 2011, proving there is now a strong winter sun rival to the Canaries in the mid-haul market from the UK.
And if you want to take 'alternative' to a whole new level then, while starting from a low-baseline, the emerging travel industry in Iraq has begun to proactively market the country with regular flights now flying from Europe.
For those with a more traditional outlook on their holiday destinations, Spain is still the no.1 destination for British travellers, leading the list of country searches and with four of the top five city & resort searches.
While Spain's enduring popularity may offer few surprises, it is the emerging nations highlighted in the Destinations Of The Future section that offer a window on how travel from the UK may look in 2012.
Estonia, boosted by Riga's status as the current joint European Capital of Culture and the fact it remains a relatively undiscovered Baltic country, is the no.1 rising destination with a search increase of 89.8%, followed by Iraq at 75.4%.

Cape Verde Santo Antao - Sailing Nipe EP 06
Exploring the island next to Sao Vicente, Santo Antao very beautiful. We hire a car and explore the island. Day 1 we drove over the mountain from the west to east very spectacular road. Day 2 we drive down to Ponta de Cha very tricky road down from the mountain(2 hour) and when we come down and finally find a place for lunch we ask were the road was further north, no road, you have to go back the same way !!!!!
Driving Around On Sal Island, Cape Verde With A Hire Car May 2018 | YI 4K |18-19.05.2018.
We stayed in the TUI Sensimar Cabo Verde hotel on our holiday on the Sal Island, Cape Verde.
We decided to hire a car for 2 days to discover the island instead to go on excursions with TUI.
As an amateur filmmaker I wanted to fly my drone at places and this way we had the freedom to go anywhere and anytime and stay at places as much as we wanted.
The hotel reception was very helpful and they organised everything for us.
The local hire company brought the car to the hotel carpark at the agreed time (9am) and they collected it from the same place 2 days later (9am).
We choose a Mitsubishi l200 pick-up truck which was nearly new only a 4000 miles in the clock.
It cost 80 euros/day and you will need 200 euros for deposit what you will get back at the end of the hire period.
All cash, no cards.
You can only use the car for 100 kilometers /day but don't worry
the island is that small you can't really go that much.
I put fuel in it for 20 euros and we didn't used all of it in 2 days.
TUI's postcard excursions cost 75 euros/person and they rushing through the island, so hire a car isn't that expensive.
We had a great time, we had lots of laugh and we met a few local guys this way.
Thanks For Watching.
