Review - Tasmanian Apple Cider - umm, what went wrong?
WineAroundOz is now
Well this review didn't exactly go as planned! We like to do things off the cuff occasionally and maybe this is one of those times we really should have stuck to what we know rather than trying things for the first time when you open the bottle and turn on the camera. Lucky there was a sink.

Spirit of Tasmania - Flavours of Tassie Showcase Seven Sheds Brewery
When you're travelling to Tasmania, nothing hits the spot quite like a refreshing, freshly poured beer. At Seven Sheds Brewery in Railton on the northwest coast of Tasmania, they have deliciously brewed ales, lagers and porters by the kegful. Five years ago they began with a quality Kentish Ale and the range has now expanded to over ten diverse on-tap brews.
Willie Simpson, the owner of Seven Sheds, in collaboration with Gerry Gaffney, the manager of hospitality services aboard Spirit of Tasmania, decided to brew a special batch of porter, and stow them on board Spirit of Tasmania, leaving them there for two months as Spirit of Tasmania travels back and forth between Devonport and Melbourne, recreating the original sea journey of the second fleet from England to Australia as they brought the first beer to Australian shores in 1792.
This creativity and passion for experimentation will be on show during Seven Sheds pre-dinner beer tastings on board a Spirit of Tasmania voyage. Come along and enjoy the flavours and cheer as Willie Simpson and the Seven Sheds brewers treat you to an unforgettable journey aboard Spirit of Tasmania.

Spirit of Tasmania - Flavours of Tassie Showcase McHenry and Sons
Australia's southern-most spirit distiller, McHenry and Son's has long been contributing to the 'spirit' of Tasmania. Located in Port Arthur on the Tasman peninsula -- McHenry's is famous for producing premium whiskeys, vodkas and gins.
As part of Flavours of Tassie on board Spirit of Tasmania, William McHenry will be offering sample tastings of his sought-after range of spirits. While you're enjoying the rich and sophisticated flavours, William will regale with his tales of creating his liquid gems and what drives him in his craft to delight drinkers of fine spirits from all over.
He invites Spirit of Tasmania passengers to visit the McHenry and Sons distillery and observe the environment in which the spirits are created. The distillery utilises the crystal clear waters of five natural, nearby Mount Arthur springs in the distilling process. The water seeps through volcanic dolerite rock and drips through a sandstone base where it's filtered through a layer of sand. The result of this intricate process is world-class whiskeys, vodkas and gins as pure as they are palatable.
Book a trip today on the Spirit of Tasmania and ensure you stop by McHenry and Sons distillery, 229 Radnor Road, Port Arthur, Tasmania.

Spirit of Tasmania - Flavours of Tassie Showcase Homehill Winery
Kelly and the Kumar family down at Homehill Winery are creating spectacular food and wine and redefining the definition of 'handmade'. Everything they do in the production of their wine is done by hand - from the planting of the vines to the pruning and maintenance of the grapes. Rest assured though that when it comes time to squash the grapes, they use 21st century techniques!
Homehill Winery Restaurant is a family business using natural local produce to create incredible dishes that pair perfectly with their Tasmanian Wine Show Award winning Pinot Noirs. In the restaurant, they serve up Huon Valley mushrooms and Cradoc lamb as well as Huon aquaculture Salmon -- all grown within 2 kilometres of Homehill iteself.
