Laurel Bank Park - Carnival of Flowers 2009
Video tour of Laurel Bank Park Cnr Herries and West St Toowoomba.
Why we're working to save our rare hay meadows
The National Trust has bought 186 hectares of farmland - equivalent to 260 standard size football pitches - with significant wildflower rich hay meadows and wildlife rich grassland in the Peak District.
The 80 hectares at High Fields at Longshaw and the 106 hectare farm at Greensides near Buxton are home to the most diverse range of grasses and flowers, plus an enormous range of insects and invertebrates, small mammals and birds, creating an eco-system that supports a complete food chain. The £2.2 million purchase is the largest farm land acquisition by the charity in the last seven years. The Trust was able to raise the money for the land in the heart of the White Peak thanks to legacies left to the Trust by generous supporters. Find out more at

Here is a bit of footage from my time at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. the tour group and I visited during a heat wave QLD was experiencing during the carnival and unfortunately a few of the flowers had wilted a bit. The colours were still amazing though!!!
I apologise for the shakiness of the camera in parts, trying to keep a monopod steady while you are moving around can be a bit frustrating at times.
