2018 Skiing Spring Mountain: Schwenksville PA
Wanted to go skiing, but not all the way up in the Pocono mountains. Found this place about 30 miles from Philadelphia. Spring Mountain is a small, family oriented ski area excellent for beginners, those who are rusty, or intermediates skiers. With lift tickets and ski rentals at about $82...not too shabby for a quick winter adventure. Check them out...
History of Woodside Lodge, Spring Mountain, Schwenksville, PA - Unravel Travel TV
The Woodside Lodge at Spring Mountain is situated near Spring Mountain Ski Area ideal for skiing, snowboarding or tubing or it's year round activities which include: Zipline/Canopy Tours, GeoCaching, Rock Climbing and Downhill Mountain Biking. The Woodside Lodge is a Restaurant and Bed and Breakfast with Banquet Facilities that is centrally located for the many travelers who tour the attractions of Philadelphia, Lancaster, Montgomery, Chester, Berks and Bucks Counties.
The History of The Woodside Lodge: On April 1, 2011, owners Rick and Gayle Buckman, purchased the Woodside Lodge, formerly know as the Woodside Inn and The Woodside Manor. As owners of Spring Mountain Ski Area located nearby, it seemed the perfect addition.
The Woodside Lodge is located on the back side of Spring Mountain. It was built in the early 1920's and is the last standing Inn among several that catered to that period's travelers who came by train to Schwenksville to escape Philadelphia 's Summer heat. The cool winds and the beaches then located along the Perkiomen Creek made Spring Mountain the place to be for the first half of the twentieth century. In fact, Rick Buckman's father worked as a bus-boy during his teenage years at the Woodside and his Aunt had her wedding reception there. In poor condition, the vision was to restore the Woodside Lodge to the wonderful meeting place that so many travelers and locals remember and to compliment our existing businesses by providing overnight lodging and breakfast for our guests. A full bar, Buckman Tavern, and Restaurant are open to the public and a Banquet Room that holds up to 100 people is available for meetings and special events. There are 8 two-room suites and a bunk room each with their own fireplace for a restful nights sleep before or after your special event or activity.

Mount Davis // The Highest Point in Pennsylvania
Monday, July 27th, my friends and I drove four hours to see the highest point in Pennsylvania. The reason there's not many clips of the actual highest point is because I thought my friends are a lot more beautiful than Mother Nature.

Cheyenne Mountain
According to legend, Colorado’s Cheyenne Mountain is a sleeping dragon that many years ago saved the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. In the Native American story, the Great Spirit punished the people by sending a massive flood, but after they repented, it sent a dragon to drink the water away. The dragon, engorged by the massive amount of water, fell asleep, was petrified and then became the mountain.
Unlike the dragon of legend, the Cheyenne Mountain Complex has never slept during 50 years of operations. Since being declared fully operational in April 1966, the installation has played a vital role in the Department of Defense during both peacetime and wartime.

3 Mile Hill Story
In the video (please watch the pictures in full screen 1080) I look at satellite images of, show pictures of, and tell my 3 Mile Hill story. 3 Mile Hill is about a 3 mile stretch of route 31 located near Mount Pleasant PA between Laurelville and Acme. When I was a kid I always went on the turnpike (now we go down 119, get on 31, go though Mount Pleasant, and up 3 Mile Hill due to turnpike tolls and since it's allot easier then getting off the turnpike in Donegal and making the left onto 31 we still come home the turnpike because it's easier on brakes then going down 3 mile hill) to go to our camp ground and I always looked at the knob and the tower (later they a second tower) up on Chestnut Ridge and since the ridge is so high I can see it from out were I live, from my high school, and from other various locations like Route 30 and Donohoe Road (Near Greensburg and Latrobe). Every time I looked at them especially on a bad day at school or just in general it reminded me of camping and fun and cheered me up.
Fact: Chestnut Ridge was logged totally balled in the 1800's
Well I hope you enjoyed my 3 Mile Hill story please subscribe and thanks for watching!!!

ABANDONED West Mountain Sanitarium
Please Subscribe
Facebook
West Mountain Sanitarium was a Tuberculosis hospital for both children and adults. It's doors opened in 1903 and was finally shut down in the early 1970s. In its heyday this was a state of the art facility with room to accommodate up to 100 patients. The location had a playground for children, a farming field to grow their own foods and a natural spring artesian well.
Due to its rural location on the side of a mountain, patients were often forced to sit outside in caged in porches, even during
freezing weather to air their lungs out as part of their treatment. It was believed that long duration's of fresh air would force the
Tuberculous out of their lungs.
With the advancement of modern medicine West Mountain Sanitarium was forced to close their doors and any remaining patients were transferred to nearby hospitals. This was a sprawling facility that had a large superintendents office/living quarters, hospital ward with patient wings and its own maintenance department.
In the mid 90s most of the buildings were burned to the ground by vandals. Up until a few years ago some items were left in
the remaining structures such as hospital beds, wheel chairs, employee lockers and documents dating back to the 1920s.
Not much remains now except for part of the superintendents quarters and part of the patient/hospital wing. Most areas
have collapsed roofs and very weak floors. This is a popular place for graffiti artists and paranormal investigators.
Who knows how much longer this abandoned place will exist but it will always be an important part of Northeastern Pennsylvania history.

What's really hiding under Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado?
There are so many rumors swirling around about what's under Colorado.
Watch the 9NEWS special Under Colorado for more underground secrets, Saturday, Oct. 22 at 6:30PM on Channel 20.
Many residents have heard about a secret military city under Denver International Airport, even a government project on aliens down there. Coloradans have heard about what it’s like inside the most famous underground military base in the world: Cheyenne Mountain.
Just south of Colorado Springs is one of the most famous military bases in the world, but you can’t see it. It sits one mile inside of the granite Cheyenne Mountain, 2,000 feet down from the surface.

Indaintown Gap Yellow Spring Cold Spring Appalachian Trail
The Appalachian National Scenic Trail, generally known as the Appalachian Trail or simply the AT, is a marked hiking trail in the eastern United States extending between Springer Mountain in Georgia and Mount Katahdin in Maine.[2] It is approximately 2,181 miles (3,510 km)a[›] long. The path is maintained by 30 trail clubs and multiple partnerships,[3] and managed by the National Park Service and the nonprofit Appalachian Trail Conservancy.[4][5] The majority of the trail is in wilderness, although some portions do traverse towns and roads, and cross rivers.
The Appalachian Trail is famous for its many hikers, some of whom, called thru-hikers, attempt to hike it in its entirety in a single season. Many books, memoirs, web sites and fan organizations are dedicated to this pursuit. Along the way, the trail passes through the states of Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
An unofficial extension known as the International Appalachian Trail, continues north into Canada and to the end of the range, where it enters the Atlantic Ocean.
The Appalachian Trail, the Continental Divide Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail form what is known as the Triple Crown of long distance hiking in the United State
