Spring of the River Bosna - Vrelo Bosne
Vrelo Bosne is a public park, featuring a spring of the River Bosna, spread out over 603 hectares at the foot of Mount Igman in Ilidža, about 15 kilometers from the center of Sarajevo.
As it is the source of the Bosna River, with lovely lakes full of fish and swans and small green islands, and since temperatures in summer are several degrees lower here than in Sarajevo, Vrelo Bosne has been a favorite outing destination for Sarajevans for the past 100 years.
This area serves as a habitat for various plant communities and animal species, some of which are endemic. Six streams from the Vrelo Bosne source area flow into the Mala Bosna watercourse, which is home to indigenous varieties of river trout.
Vrelo Bosne is also an area which contains the main source for Sarajevo’s “Bačevo” drinking water.
Vrelo Bosne is fenced in and well maintained. There are benches, covered rest areas, play areas for children and a restaurant in the center of the complex which serves a local specialty – fresh river trout.

Little Istanbul, Baščaršija Market and Pigeons - Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina [4K]
The Bascarsija market is the heart of little Istanbul in Sarajevo. The Turkish influence can be seen in the buildings, the food and the atmosphere. The square and rooftops are covered with pigeons, great to watch with a Turkish coffee.

i met four other solo travelers at a hostel i was staying at in sarajevo, bih. we decided to take the 30 min tram ride to vrelo bosne. i had no idea this place existed and would probably not have visited on this trip if it wasn't for them inviting me.
we had a great time. we decided to opt in for the carriage ride just to get the experience since most of us have never tried it before. plus it's pretty amazing that i can now say i've taken a beautiful horse carriage ride to an ethereal spring of the bosna river.

Bosnia and Herzegovina in Spring
This short documentary tells the story of the uprising in Bosnia and Herzegovina that started in early February 2014. Since February 5 2014, protests have swept across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The protests were started by workers from five factories in northern city of Tuzla: Dita, Polihem, Poliolhem, GUMARA and Konjuh. The factories had been privatized, bankrupted and stripped of assets, leaving the workers with large debts, no salaries, no health care and no benefits.
The protests culminated on February 7, 2014 when several governmental buildings were set on fire in cities across the country, including the presidential building in Sarajevo. Under pressure of protests, four regional governments resigned.
The protests were followed with mass popular assemblies, referred to as plenums, that quickly spread across the country.
