One of those seniors is Becki Zhang – who crushes a tee shot on the first hole en route to opening her round with a par.
To the second hole and Waubonsie’s Grace Angelides is just of the green… and decides to roll the ball…. (PAUSE)… all the way to the cup. The junior taps in for a 5 on the long par 5.
Same hole and Central’s Neha Vinesh is taking aim at the pin… her approach shot lands on the front of the green. She also would sink her par putt.
To the fourth hole… the 125 yard par 3. Emily Skowronski finds the perfect club, uses the fade, and feathers the ball in there, leading to a par.
WEB Vinesh also finding the dance floor – and she’s close enough to the music to convert the par – she’s Centrals top scorer with a 38.
Fifth hole now… another par 5. Skowronski’s chip is a beauty. The senior is 3 over walking up to the 5th green.
WEB Her teammate, Angelides, measures up a long putt for birdie… and JUST lips it out. Settling for par.
Skowronski going for par… and she sinks it thanks to the friendly roll. Big par for the Warrior.
To the 7th green, Central’s Emma Lim finding herself a ways away from the cup on the par three… but she puts some good pace on it, and that allows the senior to par.
WEB 7th hole – a 134 yard par three and check out this shot from Bella Russo. She almost holes out from the tee box! Misses by INCHES.
WEB To the green, and with Russo looking on, Aisha Iyengar nearly chips it in. Russo birdies, Iyengar saves a par.
Ninth hole now and Skowronski takes a fairway wood to the elevated green and lands it softly. She finishes with a 43. Waubonsie and Central TIE… but the 5th card tie breaker belongs to the Redhawks, who take the win.

We start on the first hole with North’s Emma Kirvan with a nice approach shot on to the green that gives her the friendly bounce and roll. From there she would go for the birdie and land it to start the day one under.
Over on to the fourth hole now with Central’s Emma Lim. She out of the trouble in the sand and goes on to sink the par putt.
We catch up with Huskie Emma Kirvan on the fourth hole as well. She gets all excited when she nails the longer par putt, helping her to plus four on the day.
Redhawks Neha Vinesh driving on the 7th hole. She gets the ball on to the dance floor and would putt in for par.
Hannah Martin also on the 7th hole, She gets the nice drive to land on the green as well for the par. She would finish as the top golfer with a 38.
Ninth and final hole with Neha Vinsh and she gets the extremely friendly roll to save par on a very long putt. Talk about reading the green correctly. She would finish with a 41 as the Redhawks fall to the Huskies 167-175.
Golf Courses
With golf season right around the corner, many wonder how the greens held up after this harsh winter.
Local courses showed the expected wear and tear from the weather, resulting in sparse, patchy areas on the green, but the Naperville Park District courses are still open and ready for play.
This winters been rough on everybody, but we are working on re-seeding and patching a few areas up, said the Naperville Park District's Superintendent of Golf Grounds.
Despite the recent dreary weather, golfers were already on the course enjoying a few holes just in time for Springbrook's 40th anniversary.
The course is maturing, back in the 70's the course was wide open and the trees were young, its always well maintained, Kevin and his staff does a wonderful job and it's a very challenging layout, said Director of Golf, Ed Provow.
The course first opened May 5th 1974, and honored that anniversary with a 40% discount May 5th.

Naperville Park District Celebrates 50 Years
It all started in 1966, when the first Board of Park Commissioners passed a referendum to create the Naperville Park District and came up with a master plan to acquire space to keep their vision alive.
“Residents here had already enjoyed open spaces, not only in the farms, but also in the parks already in existence, so being able to manage growth with open space and recreational opportunities became the fundamental focus of the Park Board over the years,” said Mary Lou Wehrli, Naperville Park District Commissioner from 1999-2005.
Starting with only 31 programs and 3,000 participants, the Park District had small beginnings, but quickly grew. A big part of that was the adoption of Centennial Beach in 1969.
“That area up there was called the beach bum hill, we were up there when we didn’t have any responsibilities and then we would visit and keep track of each other and we played cards and we still do to this day,” said Marge Walsh, Centennial Beach Life Guard from 1942-1945.
Adding to the expansion, developers who came to town in 1972 were required by the Park District to donate land or money for future park sites. That opened up space for the Springbrook Golf Course in 1974 and Knoch Knolls Park in 1980. But perhaps the most recognized addition of the Park District came in 1981- Naperville’s crown jewel, the Riverwalk.
“The Riverwalk became a very major focal point for everybody in the city of Naperville, so the Park District was very pleased to be an integral part of that over the years and continues to be do this day,” said Glen Ekey, Naperville Park District Executive Director from 1981-1996.
The Park District then set their sights south, building Frontier Sports Complex in 2001 and acquiring more land to fill the needs of their now 1,400 programs.
“The Southwest Community Park area, that’s an area we don’t have immediate plans for right now, but we felt it was important to acquire that land and have that land so that when the demand develops we will be able to respond,” said Mike Reilly, President of the Park Board of Commissioners.
Looking ahead, the Park District will open their new Fort Hill Activity Center, which will offer over 80,000 feet of indoor program space. They’ll also re-construct their Central Maintenance Facility. All this in an effort to fulfill the main goals of the Park District.
“I want to leave this place in a better position than it was when I got here, so whenever he or she takes over as the next Executive Director and on and on, I want them to look back and say they had some forward thinking, just as the people 50 years ago did,” said Ray McGury, Executive Director of the Naperville Park District.
