Discover Alberni E01 - Sproat Lake 2018
Sproat Lake is one of the greatest natural treasures on Vancouver Island and a place renowned for its natural beauty. The waters of this popular British Columbia vacation destination are so clear that you can easily see 30 ft. down. Waterfront homes, cabins and lots dot the shoreline but the majority of Sproat Lakes 140 kilometers of foreshore remains uninhabited and is lined by beautiful Douglas Fir forest and some of British Columbia's most stunning freshwater beaches.
The 21 degree summer water helps make Sproat Lake an unmatched recreational paradise. Sproat Lake has 4 arms; Stirling Arm, Klehkoot Arm, Two Rivers Arm and Taylor Arm. Each Arm is unique. Stirling Arm is inhabited on one shore and largely uninhabited on the other, which enjoys Fossli Provincial Park. Klehkoot Arm is the most bustling arm on Sproat Lake and features the Sproat Lake Provincial Park. Two Rivers Arm is accessible only by unpaved road and its well sheltered shores remain sparsely inhabited. Taylor Arm is by far the longest arm on Sproat Lake and its marginally colder waters are home to Taylor Arm Provincial Park. The clear warm waters, wide open spaces, stunning natural beauty and central location makes Sproat lake a recreational paradise like no other.
It is almost like Sproat Lake was created to offer us endless entertainment. Popular past times on the lake include water skiing, boating hiking, camping and nature watching. Part of the area surrounding the lake has been preserved as a BC Provincial Park complete with campsites and a hiking trail. The lake is also known for its freshwater fishing in particular cutthroat Trout and Rainbow Trout. Boarding is another popular Sproat Lake past time and you will frequently see kayaks, canoes, houseboats, jet skis and motorboats enjoying the many arms of Sproat Lake. With so much to do on and off the water Sproat Lake truly is Vancouver Islands recreational paradise.

Sunshine Coast, Tofino & Ucluelet
Our annual Mother Daughter Birthday Trip 2016 spent touring the Sunshine Coast, Tofino and Ucluelet.
We started our trek ferrying over to Gibson's B.C., to see Molly's Reach, Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay & Powell River. Did not get to Skookumchuck Narrows though - Next Time!
We Spent the night in Powell RIver then took the Ferry over to Comox in the morning continuing our route down towards Port Alberni, Sproat Lake to see the petroglyphs and then on to Clayoquot Plateau Provincial Park. We stopped to have a lovely swim/lunch at an unknown lake along the Pacific Rim Highway then arrived shortly after at our destination in Tofino.
We spent time on wild coastline, foggy surf beaches in hiking trails and in the air, capping off our time in Ucluelet.

Sproat Lake and Rathtrevor Beach Camping - Vancouver 2018 Travel Vlog Day 6
Several days of non stop moving finally rewarded with some sleeping in zzzz
We decided to take a lazy day and grabbed some vegan brunch followed by a light hike followed by a drive to the beautiful Sproat Lake to try and do some canoeing. Unfortunately, no canoes were available for rental so we took a short dip instead before heading back to our first campsite in Rathtrevor Beach.
Watch until the end to see the amazing sunset!
