Sannidhanam on Devi Sharadamba's Promise to Adi Shankara to Always Be Present at Sringeri (Hindi):
Short Messages from Sringeri Jagadgurus:
Sannidhanam on Devi Sharadamba's Promise to Adi Shankaracharya to Always Be Present at Sringeri (Hindi):
While establishing Sringeri, in His very first prayer Sri Shankara prayed that the presence of the Devi should remain here forever (as long as the sun and moon shine) and that whoever comes to Sringeri and prays there should receive Her blessings and have their wishes fulfilled.
As the fruit of those prayers. even today the full presence of Sri Sharadamba is obtained in Sringeri. And whoever comes and prays to the Devi here obtains the blessings of Her in special forms. They get divine grace here.
Thus, there is a shloka in Shankara Digvijaya:
या शारदाम्बेत्यभिधां वहन्ती
कृतां प्रतिज्ञां परिपालयन्ती ।
अद्यापि श्रृङ्गेरिपुरे वसन्ती
विद्योततेऽभीष्टवरान् दिशन्ती ॥
yā śāradāmbētyabhidhāṁ vahantī
kr̥tāṁ pratijñāṁ paripālayantī ।
adyāpi śrr̥ṅgēripurē vasantī
vidyōtatē'bhīṣṭavarān diśantī ॥
That is, that Devi who resides in Sringeri with the name Sharada and who gives devotees the blessings to fulfill their desires and who, accepting the prayers of Sri Shankara made the promise to remain in Sringeri, will bless people as long as the sun and moon shine.
Therefore, whoever comes to the Sringeri temple and takes the blessings of Sharadamba and the Jagadguru in Her form does attain divine grace.

Adi Shankaracharya established Sharada Peetham at Sringeri where a Snake protected a Frog (Sanskrit)
Short Messages from Sringeri Jagadgurus:
Adi Shankaracharya established Sharada Peetham at Sringeri where a Snake protected a Frog (Sanskrit):
Shankaracharya travelled the entire country, dispelled anti Vedic schools, and expounded Vedanta to everyone. As Shankaracharya travelled, He reached Sringeri, and saw natural enemies (frog and snake) co-existing peacefully. Feeling that this was the appropriate place for establishing the Sharada Peetham, He established the Dakshinamnaya Sharada Peetham at Sringeri, and prayed to Goddess Sharada to be ever present here, and appointed His eldest and wisest disciple, Sureshwara, to the Spiritual throne.

There is a huge dining hall in Sringeri where thousands of devotees are given free food twice every day. The dining environment is neat and clean and food is tasty. There is a bridge on Tunga River (called as Vidyateertha Setu) to go to the other side of the river. On the other side of the river there is Shankaracharya Matha, Adi Shankara Temple and other temples. The major attraction is the beautiful garden consisting of various medicinal plants.
The most entertaining items in Sringeri are the elephants. There are two elephants which are very attractive. They roam around the temple premises and draw everybody’s attraction. Taking photographs near the elephants is a great fun for the visitors. We also took a lot of photos and videos near the elephants. Our tour to Sringeri will always remain memorable in our live.

Sharadamba Temple : The ancient temple of Sri Sharada, the presiding deity of Sringeri has a glorious history that begins with the setting up of the Dakshinamnaya Peetham by Sri Shankara Bhagavatpada. Originally it was an unpretentious shrine with the Murti of Sharada made of sandalwood, installed over the Sri Chakra that Sri Adi Shankara carved on a rock. Subsequently, Sri Bharati Krishna Tirtha and Sri Vidyaranya had a temple built in the Kerala style, with timber and tiled roof. Sri Bharati Krishna Tirtha substituted the sandalwood idol with the present golden idol.
Vidyashankara Temple was built in commemoration of the pontiff Vidyashankara, around 1357-58 C.E. It was built by Vidyaranya, patron-saint of Harihara and Bukka, the brothers who founded the Vijayanagara empire.
Sringeri is home to a number of historic temples. Of these, Sri Sharadamba temple and Sri Vidyashankara temple are very prominent.Other historic temples nearby are Hornadu, Kollur.
