A day in Auroville Papers
Auroville Papers has been producing beautiful hand-made paper in Auroville since 1998.
Over the years we have explored and experimented with many paper making techniques. Apart from the obvious stationery items, we make decorative and useful household products, jewellery and even works of art from paper and cotton mache.
PONDICHERRY 2K19 VLOG
Not living along the coastal line here at Bangalore is sometimes quite a sad thing . The texture of the sand and the warmth of the beach water and how can I forget the humidity there, Pondicherry was one hell of a trip. Three days was so much fun but wanted to do more. Visiting places like the Sri Aurobindo handmade paper store, Paradise beach, The breath taking sunrise, The Chunnambar Beach,The white town, the food joints and cafe's and restaurants gave me so much information and the culture about that place. For me it is always finding the right localite and knowing their cultural and history. Thanks to a few friends and family member's who helped me know more places to visit there. Such a vibe that place gives and has a perfect balance of a night life and nature. It is beyond just Beaches there.
A great end to 2k19.
Merry Christmas and A happy freaking New Year!!!!

Pondicherry French Colny Part3 | Pondicherry Tourism
Away from the hustle and bustle of big cities, Pondicherry is a quiet little town on the southern coast of India. The unmistakable French connection, the tree lined boulevards, the quaint colonial heritage buildings, the spiritual sceneries, the endless stretches of unspoilt virgin beaches and backwaters and a surprising choice of restaurants serving a melange of cuisines provide a heady mix of experience that draws travellers from near and far to the city. It is the perfect place to come if you want to take the pace of life down a few notches.
PROFILE
The Union Territory of Pondicherry comprises of four coastal regions namely Pondicherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam. Pondicherry and Karaikal are situated on the East Coast of Tamil Nadu, Yanam in Andhra Pradesh and Mahe on the West Coast in Kerala.
The city of Pondicherry is the Capital of this Union Territory. It lies on the east coast about 162 kms south of Chennai (Madras) located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. There are no hills or forests in this region. The major soil types found here are red ferralitic, black clay and coastal alluvial.
It is a blend of spiritual aura, colonial heritage, Tamil culture and the cosmopolitan flair of many nationalities in a small but varied town. This inherent ambience of Pondy becomes most evident in the oldest part of the town which flanks the seashore boulevard.
Pondicherry is fast becoming a favourite shopping destination of the southern metropolitan cities. It is easy on your purse with low or no taxes. Although it is known for its traditional doll-making, textiles and silks, it is also the birthplace of several world class brands in leather, pottery, aromatics, fashion and handmade paper. These excellent products have become renowned solely on the merit of their superb quality. A new trend is the proliferation of exquisite decor boutiques and export-quality antique furniture galleries.
However, as you shall see, the Pondy Experience is considerably more than any of these unique and cloistered aspects. It is an experience that captivates all kinds of visitors - from those who want to take in the sites or shop, eat and stay, on their own terms.
The nickname Pondy sums up this shared feeling of belonging and having come home.
The main spoken language is Tamil; though Telugu, Malayalam, English and French are spoken by a considerable number of people. Although the majority of the population is Hindu, there are quite a number of Christians and Muslims, whereas Jains, Sikhs and Buddhists are few in comparison.
Pondicherry, as many people feel, has a distinct spiritual vibration. Stories of resident sages come down throughout its history from the earliest days.
Pondicherry has a special vibe, not felt anywhere else in India.

On Sri Aurobindo, the Mother, Savitri and Integral Yoga—An interview with Udar Pinto
Laurence Marshal Pinto (1907—2001)—renamed Udar by Sri Aurobindo—was an aeronautical engineer from the University of London. After returning to India, he observed that the engineering degree he had earned would reap no benefit since there were no aircrafts in the country so he chose to become an entrepreneur. He shifted to Pondicherry in 1935 where he set up a business which prospered within a short span of time. Following the insistence of some of his friends who were associated with Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry, Udar and his wife Mona went to have the Darshan of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother on 15 August 1937. The impact of the Darshan was so overwhelming that Laurence wound up his business and joined the Ashram with Mona. On 26 April 1938 he received the new name of ‘Udar’ (meaning generous) from Sri Aurobindo. While Mona became the Manager of Golconde—the oldest dormitory of Sri Aurobindo Ashram—Udar was associated with several departments of the Ashram like Harpagon Workshop, Laboratoires Senteurs, Handmade Paper Unit, Ashram Theatre, Precast Concrete Works, Honesty Engineers and Contractors, etc. He was also closely connected with the construction of Golconde and played a pivotal role in organizing the Physical Education Department of the Ashram. He also served the Mother as Her secretary.
This interview was shot in 1999 and edited by Living Light Productions. This video also contains Udar's recitation from Sri Aurobindo's masterpiece, 'Savitri'.

Students of Mother's International School (MIS) sing at Sri Aurobindo Ashram, New Delhi
The Mother's International School (MIS) is a public secondary school in New Delhi, India. It is an establishment of the Sri Aurobindo Education Society, an agency of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. It shares its campus with the New Delhi branch of the Ashram. The school is an English-medium co-educational institution affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It has featured thrice in the Outlook C-Fore Best School Survey as the best school in Delhi and one of the top 10 in India.
The institution benefits from the serene Ashram ambiance and interaction with the other institutions on the same campus, which include the alternative education school, Mirambika and the pre-school Mira Nursery (which is now closed). The campus also hosts a bakery, iron-work unit, wood-work unit, candle-making and handmade paper unit, vocational training centre, book store, . The school has now added a Pre-Primary Wing after the closing of Mira Nursery and the Mira Nursery building is now the matri store building. The school was founded on 23 April 1956 by founder Shri Surendra Nath Jauhar Faquir, with the blessings of The Mother, Mirra Alfassa, a spiritualist, the spiritual partner and collaborator of Sri Aurobindo.
The school's motto More True, Forever More True was given by the Mother Herself and the school's emblem portrays a bird in flight rising towards heaven. When asked about the date of the school's opening, the Mother replied 23456. And as the only possible date was 23 April 1956, it was this day that the school first opened. When the school started out, a batch was 15 children, but today a batch has 180 students, divided into 5 sections of 35-45 students each. The school has three wings, the Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary. At first there wasn't a pre-primary, the students went to Mira Nursery School and graduated to M.I.S,but after Mira Nursery was closed, the school made pre-primary sections. The school has a strength of about 2100 pupils with an average section size of 35-37 students. Each grade has five sections.

Indian hands and feet....Traditional arts and crafts of India | Auroras Eye Films
India has some truly amazing workmanship. This film explores some of the traditional arts and crafts of India, which one-day may be taken over by machines like the rest of the world. Some of the skills include; jewellery making, wood carving, sowing, embroidery, stone carving, shoe making, book binding, weaving, inlaying, and an ancient method of naturally dying fabrics. Not only do they use their hands in India, but also their feet!
This film was filmed over a 6-month period while travel around the whole of India January-July 2012 directed by Serena Aurora.
I backpacked around India for 6 months and was in ore of all the skills I saw around me. I saw craft made by hand, which to be honest I don't see that much of in my normal day-to-day life. So I wanted to awaken people and show them what people can do with their hands and feet.
