Sri Muthumariamman Temple, Matale, Sri Lanka
Sri Muthumariamman Temple was established in 1852 by the Indian workers from South India. Matale was the transit city to the Indian workers before going to various parts of the upcountry towns in Ceylon. This temple is famous for its chariot festival and community service. This vidoe shows the temple and interview with the temple management and Matale Somu (well-known Tamil writer) who lives in Sydney.

SRI MUTHUMARIAMMAN THEVASTHANAM - MATALE, SRI LANKA
Muthumariamman Temple (Tamil: முத்து மாரியம்மன் கோவில்) or Arulmigu Sri Muthumari Amman Kovil is a temple in Matale, Sri Lanka.
The prefix “Muthu”, literally means “pearl”. Mari means rain and Amman means mother. The temple is dedicated to Mariamman, the goddess of rain and fertility.
