The Sri Ranganthaswami Temple in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India is a Hindu temple which is an offering to Lord Ranganatha a resting form of Lord Vishnu. This temple, also known as Talpagiri Ranganathaswami temple or Ranganayakulu is one of the ancient temples in Nellore. It is situated on the banks of the Penna River and is assumed to have been constructed in the 12th century. Right before the main entrance of the temple is a huge tower, called Gaaligopuram, which literally means wind tower. This tower is close to 70 feet high and has 10 feet of gold plated vessels on top of it which are known as kalashams.
Ranganatha Temple Nellore is a Vaishnavite Temple sitated in Nellore. Nellore is in Andhra Pradesh India. Ranganathaswamy is the reclining or resting form of Vishnu. Sri Ranganathaswamy temple was built somewhere around 12th century. Ranganathaswamy temple is famous because Lord Vishnu appeared here while visiting earth. Ranganatha Temple is where Adishesha came and made a mountain abode of himself for Lord Vishnu. Sri Ranganathaswamy is a form of Vishnu that sat on the couch of Adishesha. It is located on the banks of the Penna River and is believed to have been constructed in the 12th century. Just before the main entrance of the temple is a huge tower, called Gaaligopuram, which literally means wind tower. This tower is approximately 70 feet high and has 10 feet of gold plated vessels on top of it, called kalisams. Every year during the month of March–April (which varies according to the Indian calendar) a grand festival is celebrated. These are called Brahmotsavam.
