Shirdi is a town located in the Ahmednagar district of the state of Maharashtra. Shirdi is most famous for the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple which has been constructed on the Samadhi of Shri Sai Baba. Sai Baba was born in 1838 and died in 1918.

Sai Baba's date of birth including his birthplace remains unknown and is debatable due to lack of evidence and no definitive information exists to prove it.

Sai Baba's real name remains unknown. The name 'Sai' was given to him by Mhalsapati when he arrived at Shirdi, a town now in the west Indian state of Maharashtra. The word 'Sai' refers to a religious mendicant but can also mean 'God'. In several Indian and Middle Eastern languages the term 'Baba' is an honorific signifying grandfather, father, old man or sir. Thus Sai Baba denotes holy father, saintly father or (venerable) poor old man.

Some of Sai Baba's disciples became famous as spiritual figures and saints, such as Mhalsapati, a priest of the Khandoba temple in Shirdi, and Upasni Maharaj. He was revered by other saints as well, such as Saint Bidkar Maharaj, Saint Gangagir, Saint Janakidas Maharaj, and Sati Godavari Mataji. Sai Baba referred to several saints as 'my brothers', especially the disciples of Swami Samartha of Akkalkot

Akkaraipatti saibaba temple, located at Trichy, Tamil nadu is one of the biggest temples built for Sai baba in India.

The temple is planned and constructed as the three floored structure with the basement of the temple complex extending to 12,000 square feet and it houses a 5 feet high shiva lingam .

The temple has a spacious ground floor at 13,500 square feet.
And the mezzanine floor has 6,500 square feet space.

The main deity Sai Baba's statue is made up of 2 tonnes of Marble.

The temple also houses the four parivara moorthies namely Vinayagar, Anjaneyar, Krishna and Thathiriyar at the corners.

The interior false ceiling is painted with the variety of frescoes demonstrating the manifestations of Sai Baba.

The walls around the statues of parivara moorthy are decorated with the perforated panels.

The walls, throughout the temple is adorned with the mural paintings of deities.

The exterior domes are beautified with gold foiled sheets.

The temple is 100 feet high and the main dome at the height of 25 feet with the 13 feet kalasam sitting on the top.

The whole temple complex is garnished with traditional ornamental works.
The main complex is surrounded with 20 chhatris which adds elegance to this architectural endeavor.

As per the Ministry of Non- Conventional Energy Sources, New Delhi, this has been identified as the world's largest solar heating cooking system.

In 2013, it bagged an ISO 22000-2005 certification for food safety where an organization in the food chain must demonstrate its ability to control safety hazards to ensure that food is safe during consumption.

At the centre of the town is the Shirdi Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir where the mortal remains of Sri Sai Baba are kept.

Shirdi Sai Baba - The Universal Master

Shirdi Sai Baba (c. 1830 -- Octo­ber, 15th 1918) is one of India's great­est and most beloved saints. He is an incar­na­tion of Shiva and a Dat­ta­treya avatar, as well as Sri Kaleshwar's mas­ter. Revered in India as Yogi Raja, the King of Yogis, Baba pos­sessed the high­est super­nat­ural capa­bil­i­ties. Though he could have lived like roy­alty, Baba spent his entire life as a men­di­cant, beg­ging alms in the tiny vil­lage of Shirdi in Mahar­shasta State.

Count­less won­ders were demon­strated by Baba dur­ing the course of his life­time includ­ing giv­ing sight to the blind, heal­ing the incur­ably sick, res­cu­ing devo­tees from dan­ger­ous sit­u­a­tions, chang­ing water into oil, appear­ing in dif­fer­ent places at once, and also dying and com­ing back to life after three days. Through his unique, one-​on-​one style of work­ing with those who came before him Baba called for tol­er­ance and peace between all peo­ple. His mes­sage also placed pri­mary impor­tance on strong devo­tion to God and ded­i­cat­ing one­self to human­ity through service.

Pro­tec­tion, guid­ance and mirac­u­lous heal­ings con­tinue to flow from Baba in ever grow­ing abun­dance. Just as he did when he was in his phys­i­cal body, Baba devel­ops a deeply per­sonal rela­tion­ship with each of his devo­tees and becomes a vital pres­ence in their lives. Shirdi Sai Baba is a grand­fa­ther to the entire planet, for­ever work­ing to uplift and unite all of humankind. Sim­ply take one step towards Baba and he will take 99 towards you.
