Oh living water - St Begh's Catholic Priory Church, Whitehaven (Compton organ)
Another of me playing the 2 manual 4 rank Compton organ at St Begh's Catholic Priory Church in Whitehaven, Cumbria.
I am only an amateur and by no means a pro so wanted to point this out and hope you are still able to get the jist of the amazing skills of the John Compton Organ Company Ltd.
Im playing the worship song 'Oh living water' from the book 'Celebration Hymnal for Everyone'. This is an ideal choice for demonstrating the softer sounds on the organ starting off with the Flute and Salicional ranks.
Many thanks to the parish priest for allowing me access to what is possibly the only 100% original Compton organ left in Cumbria.
NOTE: this is purely my interest in order to make sure that these fine organs are archived forever and I do not make any monetary profit by this video being on youtube.
For more information on the John Compton Organ Company Ltd and to see me play other Compton organs, please click on the following link for my site dedicated to the John Compton Organ Company Ltd:
REQUEST: I am always on the lookout for Compton organs to play - particularly electrones - so if you know of any churches which still have these then please do let me know. I will happily give a donation or pay any applicable room hire charge.

Psalter
Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written
language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain

SUMMARY
=======
A psalter is a volume containing the Book of Psalms, often with other devotional material bound in as well, such as a liturgical calendar and litany of the Saints. Until the later medieval emergence of the book of hours, psalters were the books most widely owned by wealthy lay persons and were commonly used for learning to read. Many Psalters were richly illuminated and they include some of the most spectacular surviving examples of medieval book art.
The English term (Old English psaltere, saltere) is from Church Latin psalterium, which is simply the name of the Book of Psalms (in secular Latin, it is the term for a stringed instrument, from Greek ψαλτήριον psalterion).
The Book of Psalms contains the bulk of the Divine Office of the Roman Catholic Church.
The other books associated with it were the Lectionary, the Antiphonary, and Responsoriale, and the Hymnary.
In Late Modern English, psalter has mostly ceased to refer to the Book of Psalms (as the text of a book of the Bible) and mostly refers to the dedicated physical volumes containing this text.
The bells of Oldham, Gr Manchester
Oldham, Gr Man: 12-Bells, 35-0-4cwt in Db. Rung by the Devon Call-Change Ringers, November 2016.
Footage starts with rising the back 8-bells in peal followed by a selection of call-changes on 8/10/12-bells and concludes with lowering the back 10-bells in peal.
The bells of Oldham Parish Church are a gorgeous 1922 Taylor vintage. However, the cramped ringing chamber and the poor internal acoustics (especially on 12-bells) makes them a challenge to strike well. That said, these are certainly well worth checking-out!
Ringers:
Colin Adams, Scott Adams, Sue Ashton, Nicola Bennie, Stuart Bennie, William Carew, Suzanne Driscoll, Alban Forster, Elaine Grant, James Grant, Stephen Herniman, Tony Jeffery, Christine Ley, Andrew Phillips & Graham Sharland.
