On Dec 13, about 800 people gathered at St Andrew's Cathedral for a Christmas carol service to commemorate Singapore's bicentennial. The service included performances by the Sidney Sussex College Cambridge Choir and the Combined Church Choir of Singapore. Guests included Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong,
leaders of Christian denominations and organisations, as well as leaders of other faiths and religious communities.

Bell ringers at St Andrew's Cathedral
St Andrew's Cathedral is home to South-east Asia's only change-ringing band - an antique art of bell-sounding that can be traced back to 1600s England. The team, comprising between 12 and 15 people - most of whom are Singaporeans - operates from within a hidden chamber in the belfry of the church in City Hall. The chamber is accessible by a narrow, winding stairway.

Saint Andrew's Cathedral is Singapore’s oldest surviving Anglican place of worship and is the seat of the Anglican bishop of Singapore. The magnificent edifice has stood the test of time, bearing witness to the spread of Anglicanism in the region. It also testifies to the contributions of the local Scottish, English, and Indian communities to the growth and development of colonial Singapore. This event was organised by the Diocese (Anglican Church) of Singapore and the National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS) in partnership with the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Singapore to celebrate our Bicentennial and the Christmas season, remembering God’s blessings and favour upon our beloved nation over the past 200 years.
The Service was anchored by The Choir of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, led by Dr David Skinner, and The Combined Church Choir of Singapore, led by Dr Peter Low.

Saint Andrew's Cathedral is owned by the Synod of the Diocese of Singapore, and is a centre for Singapore's Anglican Mission. In 1856, Saint Andrew's Mission launched the first Anglican evangelical outreach in Singapore. The first Anglican bishop, The Right Reverend J. Ferguson-Davie was appointed in 1909.
Saint Andrew's Cathedral: Shèng Āndéliè Zuòtáng) is an Anglican cathedral in Singapore, the country's largest cathedral. It is located near City Hall MRT Interchange in the Downtown Core, within the Central Area in Singapore's central business district. It is the Cathedral church of the Anglican Diocese of Singapore and the mother church of her 26 parishes and more than 55 congregations here. The Year 2006 marks the 150th Anniversary of the St Andrew's Church Mission since 1856.
