Ashburton Town History 2000
This 8 minute video is from the CD produced in 2000 by Peter Thornhill of Garden Shed Multimedia for Ashburton Town Council. Filmed in 1999, it features John Germon (Town Clerk & Devon Dialect Author) & Peter Webb (local author & historian) talking about some of the town's features. John talks about the Town Hall, Cattle in North street, Cutty Dyer & the Town Council. Pete shows Ashburton Marble outside the (then new) Ashburton Information Centre, a wool drying loft, St Andrew's Church & Lt. Guidon and a little on St Lawrence Chapel. It ends with pictures of some of the town's buildings (and some of the businesses in them - some no longer with us). Go to for more info on the town. or for the new book on Ashburton's history go to

Ashburton Carnival 2010
The final comic display of 2010 Ashburton Carnival Procession. Probably the oldest surviving carnival on mainland Britain this historic event continues due to the dedicated band of volunteers who organise it each year. Ashburton's carnival dates back to 1880 when it was used to raise funds for Ashburton Cottage Hospital. Please visit for more information about this historic town. NB Michael Jackson's Thriller is being played by the group to dance to in the background.

Dorset flight, 28 September 2011, clip 2 of 3
Clip 2 of 3 of the pleasure flight over Dorset on 28 September 2011.
We fly south westwards over Turnworth, Bulbarrow Hill (highest point in Dorset) and the Anstys at an altitude of approx 4000 feet.
The fog present earlier in the morning has lifted into low cloud on the approaches to Bulbarrow Hill.
The pilot, Lopez, tests his turning skills in the skies over Cheselbourne and the Dorset Piddle Brewery at Piddlehinton.
Time's short, so we turn over Dorchester to the north east towards Blandford Forum, passing over Puddletown, Milborne St Andrew and Winterborne Clenson.
Please view clip 3 to see the descent into Bournemouth Hurn airport.
Enjoy!
