Jesus Well, Rock, St Minver Lowlands, Cornwall
The well building is situated on St Enodoc's golf course, which also contains St Enodoc's church, found buried in the sands by two young boys, who had found the spire. Marked on OS maps with footpath leading to it. And definately have a visit of the church, where there's a memorial to Sir John Betjiman. The well once had a chapel nearby. Quiller Couch once write 'this rude well stands on a bleak high down .... where water hardly could be expected .... it is often half buried with drifting sand'. A lot of Saints, travellers, pilgrims have used the camel river and estuary here to then walk across land to the south shore to the carry on their journey to various places on the continent, i.e, Santiago de Compostela, Brittany, Rome, etc. A boat journey around Lands End was not advised in days of old. St Minefreda/Minver was of the Brychan family, her feast day is 24th of November. St Enodoc is said to of been of some prominence in connection to Bodmin priory, his feast day is 7th of March. The well was used for children with hwooping cough and pins were thrown in for foretelling the future.
