Tenerife 2019 Costa Adeje, Las Americas - The Wally Trolley
Wondering what to do in Tenerife? Well if you’re in Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos or Costa Adeje, then why not take the Tenerife tourist train, otherwise known as The Wally Trolley.
The train started at my hotel The GF Fanabe in Costa Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, heading towards Playa De Las Americas, making it's first stop at Puerto Colón.
The modern marina of Puerto Colón is located in the south of Tenerife, just 16 kilometers from the Reina Sofia Airport. Nestled in Playa de las Américas, one of the busiest tourist areas of the island, it is protected by a large curved breakwater with a maximum depth of water at low tide of two meters. With ca capacity for 364 anchored boats (maximum 24 metres long) and 237 moorings this is one of Tenerife’s best equipped marinas.
After our brief stop in Puerto Colon, we then made our way to Las Americas.
Set on Tenerife’s southwest coast in the Canary Islands, Playa de las Americas is a purpose-built resort that comes with great clubbing credentials. The year-round sun and multiple sandy beaches also pull in the Brit crowds. And then there are the duty-free shops, some great tapas restaurants, a waterpark on the doorstep and the upmarket resort of Los Cristianos just next door.
Playa de las Americas really goes to town on its beaches – there are 6 to choose from. And they all come with a great round-up of watersports, including jet-skiing and scuba diving. The main beach is sandy with calm, paddle-friendly waters and it has lots of cafés, restaurants and kiosks. Meanwhile, Playa de Guincho is a favourite with surfers and windsurfers.
Playa de las Americas is the island’s undisputed party leader. Cocktails, clubs and karaoke are the order of the day, and tribute acts do pretty convincing Elton John impressions. There are a couple of casinos here as well. You’ll find the nightlife hubs at Veronicas strip, the Starco Centre and the Patch.
On the way you will see various bars and restaurants such as Wigan Pier, Harley's, The Thirsty Turtle, Howlin Moon, The Velvet Lap Dance Club, The Chippy, Irish Rover, Scotch Corner, Miguel Angel, Templar Bar, St Eugen's, Irish Fiddler and Many More.
You'll also see hotels such as Bougainvillea Sevilla, GF Fanabe, Santa Maria and many more.
You'll also see some great shopping centres such as San Eugenio Shopping Centre, Duke Shops, Centro Comercial Plaza del Duque and many more.
If you're looking where to eat and drink in Tenerife, what do do in Tenerife, or where to go in Tenerife, this will give you a good indication of some of tthe hidden gems.

Javier Perez Ramos Monument Tribute, Playa El Duque Costa Adeje
We were on our first exploratory holiday walk at Costa Adeje. We flew in from Belfast to Tenerife last night.
Overlooking Playa El Duque beach we come across the statue of local hero Javier Perez Ramos who drowned off this treacherous beach trying to save someone from the waves.
'The monument of Javier Perez Ramos. He gave his life on March 31, 1998 to save another man. After the salvation, an insidious wave hit him and dragged him into the sea. Only days later the 31-year-old was recovered.'
The plaque inscription states-
'To Javier Perez Ramos Who gave his life to save a another person.
To the delivery of soliditaity and generosity. 31 March 1998'
Unfortuantely I cannot find any more information on this drowning.
The beaches here are extremely dangerous. There are lifeguards on all the major beaches. the severe coastal drag and the power of the waves are enough to overwhelm even the strongest swimmer. This is not a good place to allow children to swim unsupervised.
