The new peal of eight for St George, Ypres
I was lucky enough to be invited to help with the swing time analysis at the bellfoundry on the new eight for Ypres, Belgium. Here are all eight on the test rigg at the bellfoundry, with some of the bells being rung for the first time. They are certainly going to be a stunning little eight.

St Patrick's Parish Drumbeg Rare Ulster Lych Gate
It is unusual to fnd such an excellent, well preserved lych gate in Co Down never mind in the whole of Ulster because lych gates were a traditional English parish church addition.
'A lychgate, also spelled lichgate, lycugate, lyke-gate or as two separate words lych gate, (from Old English/Anglo-Saxon, corpse) is a gateway covered with a roof found at the entrance to an English-style churchyard. The name resurrection gate is also used.
Lychgates consist of a roofed porch-like structure over a gate, often built of wood. They usually consist of four or six upright wooden posts in a rectangular shape. On top of this are a number of beams to hold a pitched roof covered in thatch or wooden or clay tiles. They can have decorative carvings and in later times were erected as memorials. They sometimes have recessed seats on either side of the gate itself, for the use of pall-bearers or vigil watchers.
The body rested inside the churchyard, so the gates themselves should be under the edge of the roof, between the end columns, rather than in the centre as is usually the case with modern lychgates.
The gateway was part of the church. It was where the clergy met the funeral party and where the bier rested while part of the service was read before burial. It also served to shelter the pall-bearers while the bier was brought from the church. In some lychgates there stood large flat stones called lich-stones upon which the corpse, usually uncoffined, was laid.
Most lych gates were built from around the mid-15th century although some date from earlier, including the 13th-century lychgate of St George's churchyard in Beckenham, South London, claimed to be the oldest in England.
This particular lych gate at Drumbeg is a very well known land mark and probably only dates from 1878 when the Montgomery family paid for it to be built by Thomas Drew.
The only other lych gate i know of is at Middle Church Ballinderry.

Beckenham
Beckenham is a town in south east London within the London Borough of Bromley, England. It borders the London Borough of Lewisham. It lies north west of Bromley and is located 8.4 miles (13.5 km) south east of Charing Cross. Until the coming of the railway in 1857, Beckenham was a small village in the county of Kent with almost completely rural surroundings: once a family of entrepreneurs began the building of villas here, its population soared from 2,000 to 26,000 during 1850–1900 and throughout the rest of the twentieth century. The current population is nearly 82,000. Beckenham forms part of London suburbia, but it is a town in its own right, and some of the grand houses of the early days remain.
