Cambridge Minor at St. Giles Church - Bubbenhall
Cambridge Surprise Minor being rung on the bells of St. Giles Church in Bubbenhall; Warwickshire as part of a monthly guild practice. The bells themselves are a joyful light 6 with the tenor itself being only 5-1-13 (or 237kg). The front 4 were made by Taylors in 2000 and the 5 and 6 are older bells from the 1600s, with the 5 being made by Newcombe in around 1600 and the 6 (tenor) by Henry I Bagley in 1670.
The church itself is thought to be mainly from the 13th and 14th centuries, although the original chapel is earlier, being believed to be from the 12th century. The church is also in a lovely setting overlooking the river Avon at the edge of the village. However, on this day, due to all the recent rain we have had the river was in flood and quite a lot bigger than usual, which I try to get on the camera.
I tried recording with my camera this time instead of my phone as my camera doesn’t have the habit of cutting out after a minute or two of recording! Although, it did seem quite keen on picking up the wind noise which is a tad frustrating. Considering the church is towards the top of a hill, the wind is probably to be expected, however. The cut in the middle of the video is where the wind noise pretty much took over the entire audio, which was also quite frustrating to hear.

Cambridge: Great St Mary's church (1)
St Mary the Great is a Church of England church at the north end of King's Parade in central Cambridge.
The present building was constructed between 1478 and 1519, with the tower finished later, in 1608.
In order to accommodate the large audiences, the galleries were added in 1735. Great St Mary's to this day contains two instruments; organ in the west gallery is the University organ, essentially a three-manual by Thomas Hill but including significant work by Father Smith.
Alan Durst's work in gilded wood Christ in Majesty was installed as a reredos in 1960.
The stained glass is the work of Hardman and was added between 1867 and 1869.In the east window the central span depicts both the Nativity and Epiphany, and the lower sequence of panels depicts the various events before and after: the annunciation, the visit to Elizabeth, the announcement to the shepherds, the presentation in the temple and the flight into Egypt.
The organ was extensively restored in 1995 resulting in its rededication on 30 January 1996.

Castle Street Methodist Church, Cambridge, UK, hosted an event called 'Singing OUR Faith, where Christians from all over East Anglia, came together to sing songs from the most recent UK Methodist Hymn book called 'Singing the Faith. The music was led by Professional Choir Master and Organist Robin Walker (theorganist@btinternet.com). The singing sessions were followed by a time of worship led by Revd Alison Walker with an address by Revd Catherine Dixon. The event was organised by Haslingfield Methodist Church, Cambridge (haslingfieldmethodistchurch.org.uk).
