NEWLY RESTORED HISTORIC SIQUIJOR CHURCH | Lazi Church
The San Isidro Labrador Parish Church (Spanish: Iglesia Parroquial de San Isidro Labrador), commonly known as Lazi Church, is a Roman Catholic church in the municipality of Lazi, Siquijor, Philippines within the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Dumaguete. It became an independent parish in 1857 under the advocacy of Saint Isidore the Laborer
The church, also known for its huge convent, was declared a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines. It is also nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List since 2006 under the collective group of Baroque Churches of the Philippines (Extension) together with the churches of Boljoon, Guiuan, Loboc and Tumauini. In 2014, the government announced its plan to nominate Lazi Church in the World Heritage List. It conducted a dossier training for Lazi representatives. Once the dossiers are completed, the long process of nomination will commence in Paris.

FUN THINGS TO DO IN SIQUIJOR - Philippines Travel Vlog Ep 17
Here are some fun things to do on Siquijor Island, Philippines.
In order of the places we visited:
1. Cambugahay Falls - I recommend going early before a lot of people get there.
2. St Isidore de Labrador Church
3. Secret beach (That’s not the real name of it… it’s literally just a secret beach. Ask Chris at Lazy Lizard Hostel for directions if you want to go here. It’s a nice spot… but it’s not the best beach since it’s not really sand, just dead coral. It’s definitely an adventure to get there since it’s way off the main road and you need to ride through the jungle for a while. I think the journey getting there was actually more exciting than the destination itself.
4. Paradise Bay - I don’t think we went to the right place because the spot we ended up was not really much of paradise at all. I wasn’t in charge of directions so I blame that on the girls :) I just googled Paradise Bay and photos show a place much different haha
5. Coco Grove - There’s a place to swim and pay a small fee to snorkel. I met someone who said it was really nice to snorkel there. We didn't snorkel, but we ended up just relaxing at the Resort which was very beautiful… and if you just act confident, no-one will care that you use the facilities ;) (You can park your bike on the side of the resort. You'll see other bikes parked there. Then you can walk around and enter the resort from the beach.)
6. Lugnason Falls + Zodiac Falls - Highly recommend visiting these beautiful falls. Again, to beat the crowd, it’s best to go about an hour and a half before sunset which will give you enough time to explore and there probably won’t be many people.
7. Salagdoong Beach - This is a popular place for tourists and local families. Weekends are usually much more crowded since it’s a public beach and many local families come for BBQs. Overall, it was a nice spot to swim and relax. The waterslide wasn't operational when I was there but are some platforms you can use for cliff jumping.

a saint's day celebration of St. Isidore/San Isidro Labrador
Life of San Isidro
The patron of Madrid was born in the Spanish capital of poor parents, and was christened Isidore after the celebrated archbishop of Seville. As soon as he was old enough to work, Isidore entered the service of John de Vergas, a wealthy resident of Madrid, as a farm labourer on his estate outside the city, and with that one employer he remained all his life. He married a girl as poor and as good as himself, but after the birth of one son, who died young, they agreed to serve God in perfect continence. Isidore's whole life was a model of Christian perfection lived in the world. He would rise early to go to church, and all day long, whilst his hand guided the plough, he would be communing with God, with his guardian angel or with the holy saints. Public holidays he would spend in visiting the churches of Madrid and the neighbouring districts. The saint's liberality to the poor was so great that he was wont to share his meals with them, often reserving for himself only the scraps they left over.
Amongst the numerous stories told of the holy man is one which illustrates his love for animals. On a snowy winter's day, as he was carrying a sack of corn to be ground, he saw a number of birds perched disconsolately on the bare branches, obviously unable to find anything to eat. Isidore opened the sack and, in spite of the jeers of a companion, poured out half its contents upon the ground. When however, they reached their destination the sack proved to be still full and the corn, when ground, produced double the usual amount of flour.
St Isidore died on May 15, 1130. His wife survived him for several years and, like him, is honoured as a saint. Forty years after the death of St Isidore his body was transferred to a more honourable shrine, and a great impetus was given to his cult by the report of many miracles worked through his intercession. In 1211, he is said to have appeared in a vision to King Alphonsus of Castile, then fighting the Moors in the pass of Navas de Tolosa, and to have shown him an unknown path by means of which he was able to surprise and defeat the enemy.
The Spanish royal family had long desired to have St Isidore formally enrolled amongst the saints, and in March 1622 he was duly canonized.
Travel Vlog | Anniversary 2015 | Siquijor Island, Philippines
Hi guys! I uploaded our Anniversary vlog before but I deleted it and thought of editing it to make it better because the previous one was a little pixelated.
So yeah, this is our Anniversary vlog at Siquijor Island last 2015 and it was fun.
Siquijor Island is a very nice and quiet place. It's good for relaxing and being able to be unplugged for a few days. This Island is also known as Island of Fire. There are a lot of things to do and we even rented a jeepney (or you can rent a tricycle) for a whole day of touring around the Island. It's tropical marine life is good for snorkeling or scuba diving. Very clear water though! The Island is also near Cebu, Bohol, Negros and Mindanao Island.
