Yoann Tardivel Erchoff plays Tournemire in Eglise Saint-Jacques de Dieppe, France
Yoann Tardivel Erchoff plays Tournemire in Eglise Saint-Jacques de Dieppe, France, on july 18th, 2010. It is (unfortunately only the last part of) Paraphrase-Carillon, the Piece Terminale or Sortie of Sunday 35 (In Assumptione Beata Maria Vergine), part of l'Orgue Mystique. Charles Tournemire is the Mount Everest of French Organ composers (also for orchestra, since he wrote eight magnificent symphonies for orchestra). Particularly, the Paraphrase Carillon was praised by Olivier Messiaen, he said that every organist should play this piece. And he was right. Funny is that there are some elements in this piece Messian used for his own idiom, for instance the bird songs in the middle part (with the Cor de Nuit makes it a Nightingale!) and some slightly moderated chords for 'Jesus aceepte la Souffrance' in La Nativité. The organ of Dieppe is very impressive and had a great, sonore sound. Upstairs is like a cockpit and some people dislike the Gonzalez sound, but I would rather like that there was at least one organ of that kind in the Netherlands... By the way, the view is slightly hazarded by a net, because of the bad condition of the vault.

Toen wij de St. Jacques bekeken begon de organist net met inspelen. Mijn vader zei meteen 'Dat moet je echt op YouTube zetten !' :-)

Dieppe. Normandie en octobre
Dieppe is a coastal community in the Arrondissement of Dieppe in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region of northern France.
A port on the English Channel, at the mouth of the Arques river, famous for its scallops, and with a regular ferry service to Newhaven in England, Dieppe also has a popular pebbled beach, a 15th-century castle and the churches of Saint-Jacques and Saint-Remi. The mouth of the Scie river lies in the Canton of Dieppe-Ouest at Hautot-sur-Mer.
The inhabitants of the town of Dieppe are called Dieppois and Dieppoise in French.

Dieppe (1964)
Dieppe, France. This full issue travelogue is celebrating the new ferry route from Dover to Dieppe.
Various shots on board the ferry heading away from Dover. Arrival in Dieppe. Cars drive off the ferry. View from a car driving through Dieppe. Various shots of Dieppe market and touring circus being set up. Nice shots of the market traders and customers. Circus tents being erected. Shot of the lorries of the Pinder circus followed by top shot of the covered market stalls.
C/Us of large bowls of sweets. Young girl serves a woman. More shots of the quaint kerbside market. C/Us of little chicks. Moving shot showing shoppers.
Circus now taking shape. Big top is up. Narrator seems to suggest that the market goers will go to the circus after they have done their shopping. Few shots of caged animals - a bear, a chimp and some tigers. Live animals for sale in the market. Kangaroos and polar bears of the circus are fed.
Stall holders pack up. Car journey through Dieppe. We see some of the sights of the town and nearby St. Valery (sp?). Exterior and interior of the modern church. Another church is seen - name of location not found in paperwork. Sounds like Alainville de Bellefosse (?!). The church is built into the folds of an old oak tree. Child enters a little shrine inside the hollow tree and places flowers in a vase. Various shots of the church and visitor to the chapel.
A glamorous couple drive along the Normandy coastline, getting out of their car to admire the view. Various shots of people on the beach including an artist who paints a picture and men collecting flints - they are carried off the beach by mules and horses. Looks like a pretty heavy load for such old horses. Men carry baskets on their heads and flints are lifted to top of cliffs by cranes.
New Tanquerville Bridge at sunset.

Places to see in ( Dieppe - France )
Dieppe is the oldest seaside resort in France and a Town of Art and History with numerous places of interest. Its cliffs, beach, old town and fishing and sailing port make it a very popular destination. Overlooking the pebble beach is the Château-Musée de Dieppe which houses an ivory collection and an exhibition on the town's maritime history. Dieppe is an important town on the Normandy coast. It originally developed in the 19th century as a popular tourist destination because it has the closest beach to Paris, although it is now better known for its port.
The town centre has a historical section and although there are few major sights it is pleasant to explore. Much of the town was destroyed by a fire in 1694 so there are not many buildings from the medieval period to be seen and most houses date from the 18th century onwards. Further damage took place in Dieppe during the Second World War. Despite this history, Dieppe has preserved and restored a substantial number of interesting buildings and monuments, even if there is also a good deal of more recent development. So for example on the seafront you can see the Royal Hotel and some historic houses, separated by newer (less attractive) buildings and around the pleasure port on Quai Henri IV there are lots of attractive townhouses.
The Place du Puits Salé is the centre of the old town and a pleasant square to take a coffee break: it is here you can find the Café des Tribunaux which was once a popular haunt with painters and writers including Oscar Wilde when he was in exile, and is in a style we would more commonly associate with Alsace than Normandy. There are quite a lot of interesting stone houses and small squares here in the historic centre of Dieppe. You can also see the churches of Saint-Remi and Saint-Jacques in Dieppe: both are attractive churches, and the Church of Saint-Jacques incorporates a great deal of ornate stonework. One very impressive half-timbered building, built in the 17th century even if it looks older, is the Maison Miffant on Rue d'écosse.
The fishing port of Dieppe, the Quai Duquesne and the Quai Henri IV are pleasant places to stop for a coffee or for lunch at one of the restaurants lining the harbour. There are also several grand townhouses ('hotels') such as the College des Oratoriens and the Hotel d'Anvers, bearing witness to the 19th century glory days in Dieppe, around the two quais.
After exploring the town centre you can continue to the medieval chateau, now home to the Museum of Dieppe. The castle itself dates from the 15th century but has been altered several times so is now quite a variety of disparate styles, but still creates an impressive backdrop to the town. The museum is particularly well-known for its collection of carved ivories from its days as an ivory trading port, and for its art collection which includes works by such well known artists as Braque, Renoir and Delacroix
The beach at Dieppe is a pebble beach at high tide, but a sandy strip emerges at low tide. Behind the beach there is a broad promenade and also a swimming pool in case the sea is too cold. One of the most popular attractions in Dieppe is the Estran Cité de la Mer. This has a very wide range of models and exhibits that explain everything you could ever want to know about the history of fishing in the region as well as the natural environment and a small aquarium section.
If you stroll through the historic region of Dieppe called Le Pollet, itself an interesting part of the town, you can continue to see the Church of Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours (or you can drive to the church). The church was built on the cliffs to the east of Dieppe in the 1870's as a centre for pilgrims but is now a centre dedicated to sailors who have lost their lives at sea. After admiring the extensive views across the town and beach from the chapel you can go inside and see numerous plaques and tributes to the sailors.
