Daman Vlog Day 2 | St Jerome Fort | Jampore Beach | Moti Daman Fort Must watch before visiting Daman
Hey guys,
Ess video mei maine share kiya hai apna trip experience to Daman, Jampore Beach, Moti Daman Fort, St Jerome Fort seaface and maine share kiya hai apna experience ki kya daman and daaru
Mumbai to Daman distance is 174 kms and it takes approx 3 hours by road.
Daman is divided by the Daman Ganga River into two parts — Nani-daman (nani meaning small) and Moti-daman (moti meaning big). Despite its name, Nani-daman is the larger of the two parts, while the old city is mainly in Moti-Daman. The downtown area holds most of the important entities like the major hospitals, supermarkets and major residential areas
I rode my TVS Jupiter to daman having left Mumbai at around 6am....the earlier you start the better....it was a week day so not much of traffic once you cross Vasai creek. The roads are pretty good being the National Highway that takes you to Ahmadabad....Surat..... I took a break for a quick bite and continued my journey I reached Daman to my hotel around 10:30AM. Daman has this beautiful beach called Devka Beach which is pretty clean and plenty of shacks and food available inclusive of alcohol which is pretty cheap being a Union Territory. Once in Daman one shouldn't miss riding down to the Old Portuguese Forts and Churches as it was a Portuguese colony decades back. A good break from Mumbai city life....and not too far.

St.Jerome Fort is also known as Nani Daman fort since it is in Nani Daman. This place is not too far from the Daman city market and is pretty accessible unlike other forts. Basically it is Portuguese colonial fort built in Portuguese rule . It has 2 gateways and 3 bastions with internal structure in ruins. Within the fort premise you cannot fail to notice the Church of our Lady of the Sea Daman which is pretty beautiful both in and out. A majestic colonial structure along side the waters and setting sun ,what else you need to spend a beautiful evening with. It is one of the best attractions in Daman.
Go there in the evening when you can enjoy walking on the high walls and get a good view of Daman.
Set against the water backdrop, it surely is a place where you do get a slight mini-Goa feel, however not for the beaches!
If you have a day, then try spending 30-45mins there, worth a visit.

I rode my friends TVS Jupiter to daman having left Mumbai at around 9am....it was a weekend but not much of traffic once you cross Vasai creek. The Portuguese Diogo de Melo arrived at the spot by chance in 1523, when heading towards Ormuz. He was caught in a violent storm and had his boat blown towards the coast of Daman. Soon after, it was settled as a Portuguese colony which lasted for over 400 years. A larger fort was built in Motidaman in the 16th century to guard against the Mughals who ruled the area until the Portuguese arrived. It stands today, most of it preserved in its original form. Today the majority of the municipal government offices are inside the fort.
Daman was incorporated into the Republic of India in December 1961 after a battle between the Portuguese and the Indians. The battle left four Indians dead and 14 wounded; Portuguese casualties were 10 dead and two wounded
Daman has a tropical savanna climate (Köppen Aw) with two distinct seasons: a hot and dry season from mid-October to May and a hot, very humid and extremely wet monsoon season from June to mid-October. Almost no rain falls during the dry season. With milder mornings and lower humidity especially up to the middle of March, this is by far the most comfortable time of the year.
The monsoon season, though relatively short, is extremely wet – although not quite wet enough to qualify as a tropical monsoon climate – with flooding occurring annually. Along with the very high humidity and heavy rain every afternoon, travel is difficult and uncomfortable.

Jain Temple: This 18th century Jain temple is in the northern region of Nani Daman Fort and is dedicated to Mahavir Swami. It is built with white marble and has beautiful carvings. The walls have very elegant glass cover with 18th century murals that represent the life of Mahavir Swami.

St Jerome Fort | Daman | Vlog | Nani Daman Fort | Portuguese | Xp Guide Suneil
This huge fort is also known as the Nani Daman Fort. The most conspicuous part of this place is its magnanimous gateway that faces the river. Located towards the north of the River Damanganga, St. Jerome Fort is an ancient citadel that gives detailed insights into Daman's rich colonial history. This fort is named after St. Jerome, an eminent priest and theologian of the ancient times. The construction of this fort was initiated by Dom Jeronimo de Azevado – the 12th Portuguese Viceroy of India, after the Mughal invasion in AD 1614. It was in AD 1672, during the time of Dom Franciso de Gama, when this fort was built completely.
The complex contains other attractions namely the church of Our Lady of the Sea and a Jain temple. The fort on the whole offers a beautiful view of the fish market below and the hustle-bustle that comes along with it. The scenery is beautiful and this is one of the most pretty and popular tourist attractions.

Jetty Beach Daman St Jerome Fort
Hey guys, this is Jetty Beach beach at Nani Daman. Daman is one of union territories in India. Just like Goa, Pondicherry, Mahe, Daman also had been Portuguese colony.
Daman has 2 beaches Jampore in Moti Daman & Devka beach in Nani Daman. Moti means big & Nani means small in Gujarati language, however, contrarory to its names, Moti Daman is smaller than Nani Daman.
St. Jerome Fort is an ancient citadel that gives detailed insights into Daman's rich portugues colonial history.

Moti & Nani Daman Forts - Daman, GUJARAT
Fort of Moti Daman - The massive Fort that runs round the settlement like a girdle, dates back to 1559 AD. The Colossal structure in the present form encompasses about 30,000 sq. Meters. with 10 bastions and two gateways. The Fort is protected by a moat on the land side and also connects the river to the sea. It is basically polygonal in plan with projections at regular intervals of about 500 feet and carrying splayed angular bastions. Fort of Nani Daman - The small fort with high stone walls encloses an area of 12,250 sq. meters. It has three bastions and two gateways.
The most conspicuous part of the Fort is the giant gateway facing the river with a large statue of St. Jerome and two giant human figures, on either side of the gateway.
The imposing church of Our Lady of the Sea is the principal building within the Fort.
