Longest Church Painting in the Philippines (Bandila Ed.)
San Juan De Sahagun Parish Church in Candon City (Ilocos Sur) is proud to present the LONGEST RELIGIOUS OIL PAINTING IN THE PHILIPPINES which depict the 20 Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. The wonderful oil paintings measuring about 150 feet long and eight feet wide adorning the ceilings of the church, replaced the old, moldy religious caricatures. Msgr. Vet Avila, parish priest of San Juan de Sahagun Parish Church, said the newly-unveiled paintings have made the church a museum of religious art.

AH26 SB: Vigan to Tagudin, Ilocos Sur
This segment starts in front of Tongson's Royal Bibingka shop on the corner of Crisologo & Florentino Streets rather than at My Vigan Hotel as described in the maps. It is an 87+Km trip via AH26 or Maharlika Highway or Manila North Road due South.
This will pass the following towns, city & Points of Interests:
• Bantay:
Bantay Parish serves as the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de La Caridad, the Queen of Ilocandia. The church and bell tower are the two of the oldest structures in the province, as the bell tower was built in 1590AD and the church was in the following year. The place, especially the bell tower, is a tourist attraction mostly accessed from Vigan by means of calesas. The original beauty of the structures is still preserved until today.
• Quirino Bridge View Deck, Quirino Bridge, Santa:
This scenic arch bridge traversing the Abra River is located between two beautiful mountains and is built to honor then-President Elpidio Quirino. It was once partly destroyed by Super Typhoon Feria, hence a different-looking third quarter portion. On December 2007, Chinese engineers and a local construction company started to build a new, 456-meter-long replacement, a stone's throw from the original bridge. It was officially opened by then-President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on December 30, 2009. The old bridge, an iconic symbol of Ilocos Sur, is currently preserved as a tourist attraction, doubling as a backup in case the main bridge is damaged by typhoons.
• Narvacan:
The Narvacan School of Fisheries, a branch of the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC), has been located in Sulvec since 1964. It is also the base of operations of the Philippine Army’s 503rd Infantry Brigade.
• Santa Maria Church – Revisited:
The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption (Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion), commonly known as the Santa Maria Church is the parish church of Santa Maria in Ilocos Sur province, Philippines. The church was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on December 11, 1993 as part of the Baroque Churches of the Philippines, a collection of four Baroque Spanish-era churches.
• San Esteban:
San Esteban, officially the Municipality of San Esteban, is a 5th class municipality in the province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines. It is 363 kilometers (226 mi) from Metro Manila and 44 kilometers (27 mi) from Vigan City, the provincial capital.
• Santiago:
Santiago Cove is dubbed as the Boracay of Ilocos Sur because of its white sands. It is the headquarters of the Ilocos Sur Electric Cooperative (ISECO), which distributes electricity to the entire province.
Santiago is 358 kilometers (222 mi) from Metro Manila and 49 kilometers (30 mi) from Vigan City, the provincial capital.
• Candon City:
Dubbed as the Tobacco Capital of the Philippines the city is the country's largest producer of Virginia-type tobacco.
This once small resort town is known for making the heaviest and largest kalamay, a sweet and sticky snack made from sticky rice, coconut milk and sugar, in the world.
This city also has a rich historical background. In its legends, the name of the city is derived from the legendary kandong tree which is now but extinct in the area. Its patron saint is John of Sahagun and his feast day is celebrated every June 12.
• Santa Lucia:
The town celebrates its annual fiesta on December 13, the feast of its patroness, Saint Lucy.
Santa Lucia is 337 kilometers (209 mi) from Metro Manila and 70 kilometers (43 mi) from Vigan City, the provincial capital.
• Santa Cruz:
Santa Cruz is 333 kilometers (207 mi) from Metro Manila and 74 kilometers (46 mi) from Vigan City, the provincial capital.
• Bitalag Satellite Market, Tagudin at AH26 corner Tagudin - Cervantes - Sabangan Road:
The first two sundials were constructed in Tagudin in 1841 and 1845, respectively, by Father Juan Sorolla.
The decisive Battle of Bessang Pass started in this municipality, at Bitalag.

AH 26 is tight in these areas due to the volume of vehicles though Candon City has already a By-pass Road. AH26 condition is good except in some parts where repairs or widening are ongoing.
