Organ practise at Windsor parish church of St John The Baptist - Nov 2011
A pan of the insides of this famous church whilst the organist practises and two ladies pass their time.
The painting hanging above the west gallery & entrance is the famous 16th century 'The Last Supper' by Franz de Cleyn.
The present building dates from 1822. This sits above the site of the original mediaeval church. Old vaults lie beneath the present floor and many old memorials were retained and unmoved.
Charles Hollis was the architect for the present church. One notable feature are cast iron columns and iron ribs that support a 84' x 60' roof.
In 1870 the Chancel and Apse were added by the church architect Samuel S. Teulon.
The church organ was installed and working for Easter Day 1906. (Hunter and Sons)
The organ & painting were fully restored in 2003.

A BEAUTIFUL (எங்கும் கானாத தேவாலயம்)CHURCH IN UK || A HISTORIC CHURCH IN WINDSOR
This is St Johns Parish Church located in Windsor High Street, near Windsor Castle. This Church was built around the 11th century. It is beautiful church with a grand entrance and amazing central altar. It has a painting in back of the church wall that is reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci's 'Jesus and his Last Supper'. This painting in the church was painted by an artist Francis de Cleyn who was the painter of King James 1 during the 16th century.
On the grounds that surround the church there is a stone burial of a lady Abbess of Burnham around 1314-1324.

The Reception of the Icons
Karoussos Archives offers three Byzantine Icons, painted by Iannis Karoussos, to the Shrine of Our Lady of Glastonbury in England, in order to cherish the Ecumenical character of Christendom, through art, with the blessings of Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Roman-Catholic Church.
It is belived that Glastonbury is the first Christian community in England, built by Joseph of Arimathea. St. Joseph and St. John transfered the message of Christ to Britain and Patmos accordingly; this is the reason of the twinning of Glastonbury and Patmos. This twinning took place in Patmos on September 2008 and while it has been described as twinning in perpetuity, is considered historic since it is the first such agreement between Greece and Britain.
This offer is based on one of the pillars of the Karousos Archives’ activities, that aims at the spreading of the Ecumenical character of Christendom. The first initiative was made by Iannis Karousos himself, when he was commissioned to execute the Icons of the temple and the dome of San Teodoro, at the Palatino Hill of Rome, when Pope John Paul II granted the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Greek Orthodox community in Rome, the use of the church. Giving back this granting, the offer of Karoussos Archives is considered as a ministry of the idea of an Ecumenical Christian Community, with art and culture as the main carrier.
The Reception of the Icons, took place in Glastonbury on September 5, 2018, the month of the twinning, , presided over by His Eminence Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira and Great Britain, of Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarchate and The Right Reverend Declan Lang Bishop of Clifton, Roman Catholic Diocese of West England.

St John the Baptist Church Windlesham
Windlesham is a strong village community and, once part of Windsor Great Park and a farming village, has a population now of a little over 4,300 (Census, 2001).
#Windlesham derives its name from the Windle Brook which runs south of the village, and 'ham', the Old English word for 'homestead'.

St. John's Cemetery
Established in 1788, Sandwich is Windsor’s most historic neighbourhood and has been the setting for many battles over the years. From the earliest Indigenous settlements to now, it has played a key role in shaping our local history. With veterans from as far back as the Seven Years War (1756-1763) buried at St. John’s Anglican Church, the cemetery serves as a who’s who of Sandwich Town’s past. There’s a significant amount of Canada’s military history buried at the corner of Brock and Sandwich Streets. Peter Berry of the Windsor Port Authority has been volunteering his time to not only research and identify all the veteran graves, but also to help maintain the churchyard so the history of the area can be preserved and appreciated, and our respects can be paid.
