St Leonards Church at Misterton in Leicestershire.
St Leonards Church, Misterton.
Misterton with Walcote is a civil parish in the English county of Leicestershire.
It forms part of the Harborough district. Of its two settlement Walcote is by far the larger, but Misterton has the parish church.
Walcote is on the A4304 road some two miles east if the town of Lutterworth and a mile east of Junction 20 of the M1 motorway.
The village now has no public houses. The last one, called The Black horse is now closed down and the Ex Tavern is now a private dwelling. Misterton does have a filling station, and a car wash staffed by some Eastern Europeans working as a team there.
A short circular walk linking Walcote and Misterton can be made by following Brook Street and taking the footpath left which joins a
track which passes the Misterton Hall and St. Leonards Church. On reaching the main road, turning left onto a cycle path by the woods
of Misterton Park brings you back to Walcote. There are quite a few cross country paths, well signposted, in the area, and all are good walks, but in wet weather, wear your hiking boots and spats. Mud rules !

Since that time worship has been conducted occasionally, the main service being the annual Harvest Thanksgiving. The church remained in the care of the parish until 1973 when it was declared pastorally redundant, and in 1974 vested in the care of the Redundant Churches Fund. Steeple Ashton Church - Drone - Mavic Pro
St Mary the Virgin church, Steeple Ashton, is an extraordinary building, described by author Simon Jenkins (England's Thousand Best Churches) as a 'fairy castle'). It is perhaps one of the finest examples of Perpendicular Gothic architecture in England. Hang on, scratch the 'perhaps'; it IS one of the finest examples of this style of medieval architecture. It is an architectural gem, and has been awarded a Grade I listing as an historic monument.
The church consists of a nave with clerestory, chancel, north and south aisles, north and south porches, and a four-stage western tower embellished with crocketing and pinnacles. The church is first recorded in 1281, in terms that suggest it was in existence long before then.
The embattled tower dates from the early 15th century. It was originally topped by a huge spire reaching 186 feet above the ground. The spire was struck by lightning in 1670, and again the following year, killing two workmen, and it was never replaced. Around the roofline are carved a number of fabulous gargoyles and other grotesque beings.

Fiona & David's Wedding at St Matthew's Church Rowde
This Video from Fiona and David's Wedding at St Matthew's Church Rowde on the 5th May 2018. Due to restrictions on film and photography in the church (which I strictly adhered to) most of the filming had to be done from fixed cameras and so the sound is not perfect, for which we apologise
