The Protestant Revolution in England - Part 2 of 5 - St. John Fisher, Bishop and Martyr
Saint John Fisher, Bishop of Rochester, and the heroic defender of the Papacy under King Henry VIII, was the only bishop who remained united to Rome after the Anglican schism. He was slaughtered by Henry VIII for his fidelity and remains a witness to Romanism for England. He was the greatest and most saintly representative of the Church in England at that time. Michael Davies shows that Fisher, a great theologian, prelate, and courtier understood that Henry's reforms were no ordinary political battle with Rome. Hence, he fought them and knew that he must die for the Faith. Taken from: Protestant Rebellion and Catholic Reform (1517-1648) - 1997 VonHildebrand Institute

LOUGHTON, ESSEX GREETING (SMS label, 1950) 6 78 rpm disc
One of the most curious things in my collection. Brown lacquer on a double-sided 6 acetate. I bought this one off eBay. On the fairly regular SMS label. Label is unmarked. However, it came with two postcards (also shown on the upload). There are mentions on the disc of both Mr Argent and Mr Reynolds (mentioned on the invite card for 16th December 1950) but I have no idea of the purpose of this record.

We love this place, O God - St Laurence Church, Rowington, Warwickshire (Compton organ)
#comptonorgan #churchorgan #pipeorgan
Me playing the fine 2 manual Compton 'Miniatura' organ at St Laurence Church in Rowington, Warwickshire.
I am playing the hymn 'We love this place, O God' to the tune 'Quam Dilecta' from the old Methodist hymn book which is ideal for making use of the various different soft sounds available on this organ.
Many thanks to the church officials for allowing me access to this organ and for such a friendly welcome.
For more information on the John Compton Organ Company Ltd and to see me play other Compton organs, please click on the following link for my site dedicated to the John Compton Organ Company Ltd:
REQUEST: I am always on the lookout for Compton organs to play - particularly electrones - so if you know of any churches which still have these then please do let me know. I will happily give a donation or pay any applicable room hire charge.
Have you heard God's voice (StF 662)
