On Holy Thursday morning, the Archbishop, joined by the priests of the Archdiocese, gather at St Joseph's Church (Bukit Timah) to celebrate the Chrism Mass. This Mass manifests the unity of the priests with their bishop.
The Archbishop blesses three oils — the oil of catechumens, the oil of the infirm and holy chrism — which will be used in the administration of the sacraments throughout the Archdiocese for the year. This tradition is rooted in the early Church and was later absorbed into the Holy Thursday evening Mass; and finally reinstituted as a special Mass of the chrism distinct from the evening Mass. “Treasures” is a series of short videos hosted by Fr Ignatius Yeo on sacred art found in Catholic objects and sacred architecture in and around our church buildings in Singapore.
On the 30th of June 2016, Minister for National Development, Mr Lawrence Wong announced the gazetting for conservation; the Parochial House of St Joseph’s Church. The 104-year old church building will be conserved as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s efforts to protect Singapore’s built heritage.
St Joseph’s Church and its Parochial House have played an important role in fostering communal ties within the Catholic community in the early years of Singapore’s history. Built in Portuguese Baroque style the Parochial House was also the site of the administrative offices for the Portuguese Mission here in the region till the 1980s. The building stands as visible evidence of our ties to Portugal in Singapore’s early years.

(Portuguese Good Friday tradition in Singapore): Cathedral of the Good Shepherd (SG)
In 2019, happening on 19 April overnight at the Cathedral from 9pm Friday till 9am Saturday: A Portuguese Good Friday tradition of the veneration of Our Lord and Our Mother of Sorrows, organised by the St Joseph’s Church (Victoria Street) community.
PROGRAMME
11pm: Rosary prayer
12am: Litany to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
1.30am: Mother of Sorrows chaplet
3am: St Michael chaplet

Our Lady of Fatima Centennial Celebrations at St Joseph's Institution (SJI), Singapore on 13 Sep 2017 at 7pm.
In 1917, Our Lady appeared to 3 children at Fatimah, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta, to give her message to the whole world.
On January 11, Pope Francis blessed six statues of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and conferred upon them the title of “International Centennial Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Fatima”. Each of these pilgrim images have since been sent from the Vatican to the world.
In collaboration with The Alliance of the Holy Family International, Catholic Spirituality Centre, St Joseph’s Church – Victoria Street (OLFCC), and The Legion of Mary, you are invited to join in THE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA, which will focus on the Urgent Call to Prayer & Reparation to spread the message of Fatima in Singapore.

The newly restored Cathedral of the Good Shepherd was dedicated on 14 February 2017 at 7pm, on the 120th anniversary of the Consecration held in 1897. This was followed by a 2-week celebration of daily activities at the Catholic Mother Church of Singapore. Thousands participated in this joyous occasion. Learn more about this at .

Welcome to our New Seminary
In January this year, Catholic Foundation appealed to Catholics in Singapore to give generously for the construction of the St Francis Xavier Seminary Building. The building project was nearing completion, but funding through the GIFT campaign was far from enough.
The St Francis Xavier Seminary is now completed thanks to the generosity of the Catholic community who stepped up and answered the call.
Archbishop William Goh blessed the completed seminary building on 22 August 2018. This marked the end of the building project that began with a ground-breaking ceremony on 26 October 2016.
Now, the St Francis Xavier Major Seminary and the Catholic Theological Institute of Singapore are housed under one roof with upgraded facilities for the formation of future shepherds of the archdiocese, as well as for lay Catholics.
Together, let us continue to build the Church for Tomorrow.
