St Lawrence's Church, Evesham
St Lawrence's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the centre of the town of Evesham, Worcestershire, England. It is a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
I went into the church to take some photos of the Christmas Tree Festival (some are visible on the video, although most are in the side chapels), but as the place was empty I thought it might be good to do a simple video of a walk from the door to the altar.
Apologies for the somewhat shaky video and the background noise. I really ought to get myself a steadicam mount!

5 Star Review
Our hostess, Amanda was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for her. The rooms were delightful offering beautiful views. Amanda gave us great information on the best places to visit and eat in the area. We took her advice and were not disappointed. A truly memorable visit. We would definitely return here and will recommend this accommodation

Bardney Bells.
Ringing at St Lawrence's Church in Bardney (a 8cwt ring of 6). This was the first afternoon tower for the AGM of the Lincoln Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers, held on the day after the Royal Wedding. - Recorded and uploaded on my iPhone 2g/3g with iCamcorder ( ).

The back six here were cast in 1706 by William Clark and Michael Bushell who were based in Evesham. Augmented in 1902 by M+S they make a quality old style olctave which for some reason sound far worse on this video than they actually do.

GTFU at Redcliffe
On August 4th, I went on my Summer trip and This Year it was St Mary Redcliffe.
They Are a Glorious 12 but is spoiled by the 8th which is a horrible bell.
They all go very well particualy the 10th.
Seen first is me and 2 others raising Extra Treble, 2 and 4. Then The Tenor which is a glorious bell! I rang the 10th to Rounds and Calls. I know that may not sound like much of an achievement but since I have never rang further than the 4 while ringing any 12, for me, it is an achievement!

Pershore Abbey, Tewkesbury Abbey, Evesham Bell Tower
Outside views of Pershore Abbey, Tewkesbury Abbey and Evesham Bell Tower.
Once an Anglo-Saxon Abbey, Pershore Abbey in the town of Pershore, Worcestershire, UK today is an Anglican Parish Church. The abbey church is the structure we see today and was completed in 1130. Pershore's Abbey Park was originally the Abbey Grounds and now provides a wonderful idyllic setting.
Tewkesbury Abbey in Gloucestershire (Church of St Mary the Virgin) is the second largest parish church in the country. The tower originally had a wooden spire, but this collapsed in 1559 and never reconstructed. The Abbey has been hit by floods in July 2007 and also in 1760.

The tower has recently had restoration work from April 2015 to April 2016. The actual abbey was demolished during the 'Dissolution of the Monasteries' leaving just the magnificent bell tower we see today.

Evesham Town Hall Clock
A look at Evesham Town Hall Clock on Saturday 7th February 2015.
The Town Hall, known as the new Guild Hall 150 years ago, is amongst the oldest buildings in Evesham, older buildings being the churches of All Saints and St. Lawrence, the Bell Tower, the Almonry, Abbot Reginald’s Gateway and the former Evesham Grammar School at Merstow Green, as well as the Round House next to the Town Hall.
The building was remodelled in 1885, and the Clock Tower erected in 1887 to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. The Clock Tower was refurbished early in 1998.

Yorkshire Royal at Chesterfield (Crooked Spire)
I filmed Yorkshire Royal in the Ringing Chamber and outside, but I don't know what was rung on the back 8 when in the Belfry. All I know is the tenor ringer can't have rung the bell much before! lol
Yorkshire Royal is a lovely method, but I am yet to learn it! It's my next challenge after Cambridge Royal, which (if I can remember it) is dead easy.
Chesterfield bells are great if they are struck well. Some of them are very odd-struck, especially the 9th.
Chesterfield church is famous for it's Crooked Spire. There are many stories about how it came to be crooked, my favourite is that it saw a virgin getting married there and it was so surprised it turned round to have a look! The more scientific story is that wet wood was used in it's construction, and the wood then dried and warped, creating the famous spire. This seems to be the correct theory, as there are three sets of wood in the spire: the original set, and then a second set put in in the early 16th Century, and a final set put in in the late 16th Century. The spire is so full of wood that if stood inside you cannot see more than a few metres up.
Also, never stand at the base of the spire with it tilting over you and look up. You feel as if you are falling off the tower! It is very strange.
Chesterfield College are keeping an eye on the spire (see the bit in the video) and keep the church updated as to it movement of it: it doesn't stand still!
