History
Main article: Beane Air Force Base
Hewanorra International Airport was originally named Beane Army Airfield and was used as a military airfield by the United States Army Air Forces' Sixth Air Force during World War II. Beane Field was activated in early 1941 with a mission to defend Saint Lucia against an enemy attack.
The former base was then refurbished and converted into a commercial airport. There is a disused northeast/southwest runway north of the main east–west runway that was part of the military airfield. It is in poor condition, along with a few dispersals.
The name of the airport is an Amerindian word meaning [land of the] iguana. [2]

Anse la raye –
Anse La Raye is the largest town in Anse la Raye Quarter, Saint Lucia. It is located on the island's western side, near Marigot Bay, and has several examples of French and English colonial architecture. The name Anse la Raye is derived from the rays that are found in the bay, the English translation means Bay of Rays. On a Friday night there is a fish fry where the local fishermen showcase their skills and where lobsters, fish and lambi (conch) are cooked and eaten. The fish fry is located on Front Street which runs parallel to the beach.

Canaries-
Canaries (or Kanawe in Creole) is located on the West Coast of Saint Lucia. It is a small fishing village and it is nestled along the West Coast road, between Anse La Raye and Soufriere, and there are scenic views from both the Northern and Southern approaches. Until the 1960s there was no road transport to the village and it was only accessible by boat. Since the construction of the West Coast Road it is a stop on the road between Castries and Soufriere. The name Kanawe is derived from the Amerindian word for cooking pots, in the past Canaries had a large sugar plantation that ran inland up the valley that stretches in an eaterly direction from the village.

1 St Lucia Pitons
The Pitons (Peaks in French) are located near the towns of Soufrière, Saint Lucia. Soufrière and Choiseul Quarter Choiseul on the southwestern coast of the island. They are in the electoral districts of three and ten. The Pitons are located on either side of the Jalousie Bay.
Coral reefs cover almost 60% of the site’s marine area. A survey has revealed 168 species of finfish, 60 species of cnidaria, including corals, eight molluscs, 14 sponges, 11 echinoderms, 15 arthropods and eight annelid worms. The dominant terrestrial vegetation is tropical moist forest grading to subtropical wet forest, with small areas of dry forest and wet elfin woodland on the summits. At least 148 plant species have been recorded on Gros Piton, 97 on Petit Piton and the intervening ridge, among them eight rare tree species. The Gros Piton is home to some 27 bird species (five of them endemic), three indigenous rodents, one opossum, three bats, eight reptiles, and three amphibians.
The volcanic complex includes a geothermal field with sulphurous fumaroles and hot springs.
both mountains are an attraction for hikers although the Gros Piton peak is more popular since it is an easier climb and tours are offered by The Soufrière Foundation, a non-profit group that’s dedicated to help preserve the Pitons Management Area.

Hey beautiful people! This weekend, follow me as I go through my typical weekend activities in Saint Lucia: errands at Baywalk Mall, loads of down time and then a lovely Sunday brunch and beach walk at Windjammer Landings Resort.
Since this weekend was pretty rainy, I didn't get to do much or show you too much but hopefully, you can get a little taste of what I typically do in a weekend.
This was a more laid back weekend.
