Old Amersham Historic Centre
In the countryside and yet last station on the London Underground. 7 Lollard Martyrs were burnt at the stake here. Many picturesque buildings which have appeared in everything from John Betjeman's Metroland to Four Weddings and a Funeral. St Mary's Church contains the grave of Ruth Ellis the last woman to be hanged in Britain. Old Amersham remains unspoilt because they refused to allow a railway to be built nearby by and Amersham on the Hill grew up around Amersham Railway Station which is a full mile away.
The video finishes with shots of the splendid Kings Arms Hotel. You also briefly see the Crown Hotel.

The Vicar of Dibley Church St Barnabus (Actually St Mary the Virgin Turville)
Picture Postcard Village Turville set in a valley. Spot the Windmill. Though set in the fictional Oxfordshire village of Dibley, the series was filmed in the Buckinghamshire village of Turville, with the village's St Mary the Virgin Church doubling as Dibley's St Barnabus (sic). The village of Turville has also been the location for Midsomer murders, Goodnight Mister Tom, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, , Marple, and Foyle's War. Turville is great walking and cycling country but for motorists the access roads are very narrow. Dawn French as the Vicar of Dibley got married here.
There is also a small but exquisite John Piper stained glass window.
The John Piper semicircular window sits above a door in St Mary’s Church, Turville. Beneath the hand holding the lily is the inscription from the Magnificat, ‘My soul doth magnify the Lord’ it commemorates the lost Church of nearby village Northend.

4K Virtual walk / Amersham Old town and War Memorial park
Today's Virtual walk is in Amersham which is in the Chiltern district of Buckinghamshire England, 27 miles north-west of London. It is part of the London commuter belt.
Records date back to pre-Anglo-Saxon times when it was known as Agmodesham, and by the time of the Domesday Book which was written around 1086, it became known as Elmodesham.
I arrived at the train station and walked down to the old town. The virtual tour starts at the bottom of the main high street and I walk through the Town towards the War Memorial. Then I cross over the main Rd and head up the side streets.
My aim with the channel is to help people relax and help people who just can't get out anymore due to Illness or failing health. I want to give them the feeling of being there with me.
