The ruined church at the village edge is a Grade II listed building, first listed in 1961 and formerly called The Old Parish Church, but later re-listed under the name The Church of St Mary The Virgin. It was probably built c. 1350. It was built in the Perpendicular style, the fabric being mostly of coarse ironstone rubble with ashlar dressings.
ENGLAND, EXPLORING inside the magnificent ST. ALBANS CATHEDRAL ⛪
SUBSCRIBE: - Inside the St Albans Cathedral, England. St Albans Cathedral, formally the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban, and referred to locally as the Abbey, is a Church of England cathedral in St Albans, England. Much of its architecture dates from Norman times. It ceased to be an abbey in the 16th century and became a cathedral in 1877. Although legally a cathedral church, it differs in certain particulars from most other cathedrals in England: it is also used as a parish church, of which the dean is rector with the same powers, responsibilities and duties as that of any other parish.
Probably founded in the 8th century, the present building is Norman or Romanesque architecture of the 11th century, with Gothic and 19th-century additions.

The family legend behind this is that my Dad, Mike Edwards, was due to be in the congregation but had been for a business 'lunch' in Montgomery on the day and had was slightly worse for wear and didn't actually make it. My Nana, a God-fearing, tee-total Christian, went to her grave in the belief that her son was simply behind a pillar in the service and that's why she couldn't see him, rather than in bed sleeping off the lunch... :D

Ghost of ~St Peter’s Church~Northney~ Hayling Island
Northney is a village on Hayling Island in the borough of Havant in the county of Hampshire, England.
It is reported that Off the south coast of Hayling Island: The sound of sunken bells is said still to be heard coming from the sea.
Northney is on the north coast of the island, east of where the A3023 meets the shore of the island and north of North Hayling. Hayling Island marina is nearby.
A phantom sailor is said to walk the area of the church of St Peter’s ,it was built by monks of the Abbey of Jumieges, Normandy, in 1140, close to the site of an Iron Age shrine, later the site of a Roman temple. Some of St Peter's interior pillars stand on roughly hewn stones taken from the Roman temple. The delightful church interior, little changed since 1250, is best appreciated sitting quietly in the back pew, some say in the peaceful presence of the ghost of a sailor, drowned whilst crossing the Wadeway in a storm.
Princess Catherine Yurievskaya (1878-1959), is buried at St Peter's parish church a daughter of Alexander II of Russia,. who was legitimised by her parents' marriage and who spent the last 27 years of her life on Hayling Island, dying in relative poverty. The gravestone gives her birth year as 1880, which was the year she was legitimised.
A Panikhida, or tradition Orthodox memorial service, was held for her at St Peter's on Sunday 2 October 2016.
Click to go to a You Tube Video about her and the recent restoration of her grave.

Dji Phantom over Hemel Hempstead skatepark UK
I am still getting used to flying the dji phantom in the most basic mode (gps). Having great fun with it, there is still a lot to learn to get good video footage from it. Definitely flatters the pilot by being stable and relatively easy to fly.
ST. MARY THE VIRGIN CHURCH, HAYLING ISLAND, HANTS.
The beautiful old, medieval church of St. Mary the Virgin on Hayling Island is well worth a visit, to roam around the churchyard, & see the variety of stones dedicated to those who've passed away, from all works of life. The huge old Yew Tree has now been date tested, & proved to be over 2000 years old, with wooden props put in place to support it over 200 years ago. Despite its age, fresh growth still continues.
