Dr. Monica Rowbotham. Grave in St Mary's Church. Upton. Near Blewbury. Oxfordshire. 09.04.2017.
I made a visit to the grave of Dr. Monica Rowbotham, at St Mary's Church. Upton. Oxfordshire on Sunday 9th April 2017. I knew this lady back in the 1960's, in Newcastle upon Tyne, and she was the loveliest person you could ever wish to meet. It was nice to be able to pay my respects to her after all these years. The churchyard is in beautiful, peaceful surroundings, in a lovely village.
I've placed a link below, to a video I did of Stannington Children's Hospital, before it was completely demolished.
Going to the UK! And walking through the beautiful town of Blewbury!!

Blewbury to Upton and Didcot
This is linked to the post.
I've added a clip of the footpath between Blewbury and Upton. Please note that it isn't illegal to ride a bike on a footpath. The 1835 and 1878 Highway acts refer to the footway next to a road, what we now call pavements.
Also note, that in January 2014, the Government Road Safety Minister, Robert Goodwill, has confirmed that cyclists are permitted to ride on the pavement, as long as they do so considerately ( I would expect the same of anyone riding here.
Note that several people do ride bikes along here. And these clips of the local A-road show why people choose to not use it as it's so dangerous.
Tour of Britain in Blewbury
The Tour of Britain comes through Blewbury for the first time since 1999. As last time, there's a sprint in front of The Barley Mow on London Road.
Here's footage shot near to Nottingham Fee.
Blewbury to Didcot
The only route from Blewbury to Didcot. Despite there being a NCN route very close by, this is the only real way to get out of Blewbury towards Didcot. Other routes are blocked by terrible roads, horse-ruined paths, and landowners refusing to allow cycle routes to be made out of footpaths crossing their land (to the NCN route).

Places to see in ( Blockley - UK )
Blockley is a village, civil parish and ecclesiastical parish in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England, about 3 miles northwest of Moreton-in-Marsh. Until 1931 Blockley was an exclave of Worcestershire. The civil and ecclesiastical parish boundaries are roughly coterminous, and include the hamlets of Draycott, Paxford and Aston Magna, the residential development at Northwick and the deserted hamlets of Upton and Upper Ditchford.
Blockley village is on Blockley Brook, a tributary of Knee Brook. Knee Brook forms the northeastern boundary of the parish and is a tributary of the River Stour. In AD 855 King Burgred of Mercia granted a monastery at Blockley to Ealhhun, Bishop of Worcester for the price of 300 solidi. In 1086 the Domesday Book recorded that the Bishop of Worcester held an estate of 38 hides at Blockley.
The Church of England parish church of St. Peter and St. Paul is late Norman, built in about 1180. The ecclesiastical parish now forms part of the Vale and Cotswold Edge team of Church of England churches, with the Team Vicar remaining responsible for Blockley and its outlying villages of Paxford, Draycott and Aston Magna, as well as the parish of Bourton-on-the-Hill.
The Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway, built between 1845 and 1851, passes through the parish. Blockley railway station was more than 1.5 miles (2.4 km) northeast of the village and nearer to Paxford. British Railways closed Blockley railway station in 1966 but the railway remains open as part of the Cotswold Line. The nearest railway station still open is Moreton-in-Marsh. Blockley is home to Watsonian Squire, the largest UK manufacturer of sidecars and trailers for motorbikes. It has been based in the village since 1984.
Blockley has two public houses. The Crown Inn and Hotel is a former coaching inn. The Great Western Arms belongs to the Hook Norton Brewery. and The post office closed in 2007. In May 2008, under a co-operative agreement, the village residents opened a new local not for profit store.

Creepy Places Global: St. Mary's Churchyard
Our new Website:

Andrew and Charles travel to Painswick, England to a 15th century church called St. Mary's. The church was the site for a battle between Royalist and Parliamentarians during the English Civil War in the 17th century, resulting in some damage that is still seen today. Additionally, the churchyard is home to some interesting tombs and monuments, along with the Yew Trees. A legend states that only 99 Yew Trees can be planted in the churchyard, because if a 100th one is planted...the Devil will come and take it!

A Short Trip Round Blewbury
Going for a short ride around. Water, water everywhere. Not sure if I want to drink any of it! Note the section through the churchyard. Not sure of the regulations here (noting it's not illegal to cycle on a footpath, just the pavement).
Blewbury Gangnam Style
Some pretty raw footage, but fun nonetheless.
Not a cycling clip, but a shot of Blewbury (south Oxfordshire village) on Boxing Day. The walk is always a massive social event after the family thing of Christmas Day. The walk started decades ago and was orginally a walking race in fancy dress. Nowadays it's more of a fancy dress thing with walking between pubs.
This year saw lots of cycling-inspired stuff with Wiggo and (strangely) Boris being big contenders, but also a few gangnam style entries. This was the winner and they even did a little performance at our little spot!
As a side-note, it's interesting to see so many people liking cycling here, but I do draw back to the problems that cycling has in this locality.

Yorkshire Surprise Royal at Stroud, Gloucestershire
Ringing up the front 6 and back 4, followed by an excerpt from a quarter peal of Yorkshire S Royal, finished with a lower on the back 8 of this old-fashioned Gloucestershire 10. Listen out for the spanking Backrounds at 6:02!
Stroud are a historic, colourful old 10, a mixture of Mears and Rudhall bells, last rehung in 1893 by Taylors. They blend together well, sound good, albeit very quiet inside, and are easy to ring. The rope bosses are quite curious, being attached to metal poles (presumably to shorten the rope draft somewhat) - these make a lot of rattling noise! There are early peal records here - including one of Grandsire Triples in 1722 - the first ten bell peal here was Grandsire Caters in 1815.
St Laurence Stroud is known as the resting place for the last British man known to have died in a duel, Lieutenant Joseph Denzel. The church was completely rebuilt (except for the tower and spire) in 1866, and when we came was hosting a Christmas Tree festival, which was marvellous!
