Just before the Civic Carol Service started.
St.Mary the Virgin Chiddingstone.
The present church has 13th century origins but was substantially rebuilt in the 14th century. The fine west tower with its stair turret and four pinnacles was added in the 15th century, also the chapel was enlarged in 1516. Following a lightning strike in 1624, which destroyed all but the tower, the church was rebuilt and rededicated in 1629. It has a ring of eight bells in the tower which were all were rehung in 1991. The font was made in 1628 of local sandstone and has been described as the best production of its period in Kent. The pulpit dates from the same time, also the organ which dates from 1881.(St.Mary the Virgin Website)

The Minster Church of St Mary, Stow in Lindsey
The Minster Church of St Mary, Stow in Lindsey is one of the oldest parish churches in England. It originally served as the Cathedral Church of the ancient diocese of Lindsey, founded in the 7th century, and stands on the site of a much older one.
The Bishop of Lindsey's seat at Sidnacester (Syddensis) has been placed, by various commentators, at Caistor, Louth, Horncastle and, most often, at Stow, all in present-day Lincolnshire, England. More recent research has concluded, however, that the seat was, in fact, the original foundation in Lincoln itself.[citation needed]
There had been a church situated in Stow even before the arrival of the Danes in 870, the year they are documented to have burnt the church down. The building remained in ruins until an Abbey was built in 1040, reputedly by bishop Eadnoth II.

Salisbury Cathedral the single most beautiful structure in England
Salisbury Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is an Anglican cathedral in Salisbury, England, and one of the leading examples of Early English architecture. The main body of the cathedral was completed in only 38 years, from 1220 to 1258.
The cathedral has the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom (123m/404 ft). Visitors can take the Tower Tour where the interior of the hollow spire, with its ancient wood scaffolding, can be viewed. The cathedral also has the largest cloister and the largest cathedral close in Britain (80 acres (320,000 m2)). It contains the world's oldest working clock (from AD 1386) and has the best surviving of the four original copies of Magna Carta (all four original copies are in England). In 2008, the cathedral celebrated the 750th anniversary of its consecration.
The cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Salisbury and seat of the Bishop of Salisbury.
'Salisbury Cathedral is the single most beautiful structure in England, and the Close around it the most beautiful space' Bill Bryson - Notes from a Small Island.

The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Bampton In The Cotswolds And Downton Abbey Filming Location
The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Bampton, Oxfordshire, is a Church of England parish church in the Diocese of Oxford that dates from the 12th century. It is on the site of a late Saxon Minster, the tower of which survives in the present church. It has a 13th-century spire, and a carved stone reredos of Christ and his Apostles from about 1400. It is a Grade I listed building.
Saint Beornwald of Bampton was venerated as patron saint of Bampton from at least the 9th century until the Reformation. His feast day was 21 December. Given the degree of local patronage he may have been the founder of the church. Very little is known about Beornwald. Although early records call him saint, confessor, priest and martyr, even his tomb is now lost for certain. His shrine was probably in the north transept of the parish church, where some evidence of a former shrine remains.
William the Conqueror granted the original church to Leofric, Bishop of Exeter. The Diocese of Exeter was involved with St Mary's for many years afterwards. The church has been rebuilt and extended a number times, most recently in 1870 when the roof was given its present form.
The ancient parish was one of the largest in Oxfordshire, and included the townships of Weald, Lew, Aston, Cote, Shifford, Chimney and Lower Haddon. In 1857 the parish was split into the three ecclesiastical parishes of Bampton Proper, Bampton Lew and Bampton Aston, all now part of the united benefice of Bampton with Clanfield. In 1866 the parish was split into five civil parishes: Bampton, Lew, Aston and Cote, Shifford and Chimney.
St Mary's Rectory has a date-stone stating that it was built in 1546. It was altered in 1799 by the builder and architect Daniel Harris.
On 12 September 1955, St Mary's Church was designated as a Grade I listed building.[10]
Many scenes, including some of Downton Abbey's key events, have been filmed in and around the church in Bampton.

Kingsbury UK Tour 3: St. Mary's Church
Kingsbury UK Tour Number 3: The Church of St. Mary in Winterborne Whitechurch. In the summer of 2011 a large group of Kingsbury family and relations toured the United Kingdom visiting many places that had significance to the Kingsbury family heritage and genealogy. This is the third stop on our UK adventure.
Many thanks go to Jenny Galuschka who volunteered her time and did a very good job showing us the church and teaching about its history!

St Mary’s, Gothic Revival–Style Cathedral | Sydney, Australia
[FILMED ON November 5, 2017] St Mary’s Cathedral is one of Australia’s most beautiful and significant buildings. It is dedicated to Mary Help of Christians. This Gothic Revival–style cathedral display many features on the outside of the building such as the flying buttresses in the eastern and western facades, the canopies and statues in the northern gable, the text of the Ave Maria, the carved saints’ heads and figures of the gargoyles.
The interior of this cathedral is typical of Gothic Cathedrals in having a high central nave which is bordered by smaller aisles and leads a direct path to the high altar. There are five smaller prayer surrounding the high altar which provide intimate spaces for reflection.
Like many other Cathedrals, the stained glass windows are one of the highlight when visiting cathedral. The stained glass windows of the Cathedral are the work of the famous Hardman Studios in England. The most magnificent is the Great North Window which is depicting the Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth.
Housed in the central tower of the Cathedral is the Cathedral bells. The bells are rung in the English tradition. Change Ringing where each ringer rings s bell one after another is the method of bell ringing used at the Cathedral. The bells are in the upside down position and each of them is attached to a wheel and by pulling a rope from a room directly below, the bell will rotate and ring in tune with the other bells.
