Church of St Michael Upon The Mount Without.
The church of St Michael Upon The Mount Without at St Michaels Hill Bristol is a marvellous structure that owes its peculiar title to the Mediaeval status of its location, without the walls of the city of Bristol.
It has been utterly neglected and allowed to sink first under the demented wail of psycho-scipt known as tagging and since this video was shot, to have sunk into a Sargasso sea of random foliage.
As someone who never attends a church unless necessary, even I am forced to acknowledge that this egregious display is both a metaphor for and a direct manifestation of the derangement of British culture from any sound or humane ethical sensibilities. The land that produces this is inevitably damned to become the land that produces bourgoise rioters, school-teachers who loot shops, social-workers who stone the police and other professionals who see no harm in recreational mugging. The kind of things that have occurred on the streets of Britain in 2011.
The ethical roots of British culture and every social liberty or cultural innovation it has favoured, from organised labour to feminisim, from gay rights to the NHS are utterly Christian. The denigration of these roots and their denial has brought about the disgusting maladies now afflicting this country. It is time that even non-Christians should recognise this and reconsider their dogmatic rejection of everything traditional in favour of social novelties, such as multi-culturalism.

360º view from St Michael's Church tower - Aldbourne, Wiltshire, England
Opening the church tower to the public is a rather special occasion - and it also offers fine views of the village and surrounding countryside.
St Michael's has a long history - the Wiltshire Council website, for example, says that there was a well established church here in 966, which was most likely to have been made out of wood. In 1086, the Domesday Book mentioned that two hides of land belonged to the church, enough to support it and a priest.
By the mid-12th century there was a stone church with an aisled nave and, perhaps, a central tower; the south doorway and some masonry survive from this building. It is thought that a fire damaged the church in around 1220 and it had to be rebuilt. The new church was cruciform in plan with a long chancel, a central tower, and an aisled nave of 4 bays; the dedication was to St. Mary Magdalene. In 1460 Richard Goddard had the 99 feet high west tower built, the central tower was removed and the crossing arches rebuilt. Chantry chapels were added to the chancel, porches and an embattled clerestory to the nave, the roofs renewed and the windows enlarged. By the 15th century the dedication was to St. Michael.
In the early 16th century a small chapel was added between the south porch and the transept. The south porch itself had an upper room that had been used as a school for Latin grammar by the chantry priests. A Sunday School was in existence by the late 18th century and a gallery was erected for their use. Music was provided by gallery musicians but, by 1827, there was a gallery with an organ. The church was said to be in poor condition in 1858 as the roof was leaking, the floorboards were rotten and some masonry was out of the perpendicular. Restoration took place in 1867 under William Butterfield. A new, more steeply pitched, slate roof was built over the old 15th century one - which was retained as a ceiling for the nave and chancel. The north porch and the stair turret in the south porch were removed and the east window replaced by one of 3 lancets.
In 1957 the living was held with Baydon vicarage and in 1965 the two were united. They were combined with Ramsbury in 1973 as a team ministry. In 1974 the old vicarage was sold and a new one built. There are 8 bells; 2 of the early 16th century, 2 of the 17th century, and 4 from the 18th century that were made in Aldbourne (one of these was recast in 1915).
The registers from 1637, apart from those in current use, are held in the Wiltshire and Swindon Record Office. Those for marriages and burials between 1639 and 1646 are missing.
Several scenes from the TV series 'Band of Brothers' were shot in and around Aldbourne.

Widcombe, Bath
Rounds on the six bells of St Matthew's, Widcombe, Bath.
Front 3 and back 2 bells are reasonably toned but the whole ring are ruined by the 4th, an ancient bell which sounds pretty awful! The bells handle well although there is a lot of tower Movement. The tenor is 12 cwt in F#. The set are by a mixture of founders.
