Widford St Oswald Part One Cotswold churches
Widford lies lost among the open fields a few miles along the Windrush from Burford. This isolated church can only be reached by following the footpath along the banks of the river from Swinbrook, as we did or if you have a little more time, from Burford in the opposite direction. St Oswalds stands on the site of a Roman villa with a mosaic now hidden beneath it's chancel floor and is surrounded by the bumps and hollows of the village it once served. Convention ascribes these deserted villages to the Black Death, in reality a more complex combination of factors such as climate and enclosure lead to a proportion of these desertions. However the Windrush valley suffered in both the 1348 and 1360 outbreaks and the chancel painting of the 'Tree Living Kings and The Three Dead Kings' painted at this time may be a poignant reminder of this tragedy. So if you would like to walk with us through the beautiful evening of a Spring day I am sure you will enjoy both the countryside and the fathomless history of this Cotswold valley.

Swinbrook Part One
Swinbrook is a delightful village within walking distance of Burford. It was the childhood home of the Mitford sisters, parodied in Nancy Mitford's 'The Pursuit of Love'. Nancy, Unity and Diana are buried to the west of the church. The church has work of c1200 but the exterior is Decorated and Perpendicular with a western bell tower added in 1822. It is famous for the Fettiplace monuments, six generations of whom recline on shelves on the north wall of the chancel. A path through the churchyard leads to St. Oswald's church lost in the river meadows along the banks of the Windrush. The Windrush runs through a ford in the middle of village which seems remote and timeless. There is a wonderful pub which was once a water mill and is owned by the Duchess of Devonshire, nee Deborah Mitford and a picturesque cricket ground.

SPONTANEOUS TRIP TO SWINBROOK, UK
Graves of Nancy, Unity & Diana Mitford at St Mary's Church, Swinbrook
There is a Mole on Nancy's Grave which was apparently the family's emblem. The three sisters are re-united after so much turmoil & strife. The nearby Swan Pub is dedicated to the Mitford Family. Today 24 Sep 14 Debo the youngest sister has sadly also passed away. Swinford is net to the River Windrush and is really in the most beautiful location with many circular walks possible. Pamela is also buried in the graveyard but I didn't know her headstone is separate.

Fulbrook St James the Great Part Two
Fulbrook is an attractive Cotswold village separated from Burford by a medieval bridge across the River Windrush. Though close to this popular Oxfordshire town, Fulbrook has a retained an identity of it's own. It is thought that Fulbrook gets it's name from the Old English 'Ful' meaning dirty or muddy. The village lies on the edge of the great forest of Wychwood, a royal hunting estate since Saxon times. From 1066 to C14 Manor held by the Dispenser family. The ancient church of St James is Saxon in origin and stands next to a Yew of 19 feet in girth which may be 1000 years old.

The forgotten graves of East Stoke Church
A site survey. St Oswald Church is located in the tiny village of East Stoke, Nottinghamshire, England. A 13th Century Church, which lies close to the River Trent. It has a long and interesting history, the Church itself is Medieval but the site itself was possibly a Roman settlement. St Oswald also lies on the eastern edge of a major Medieval battlefield. On the 16th June 1487 the Battle of Stoke Field was fought, the very last battle of The Wars of the Roses, which saw the complete slaughter of Yorkist forces and which saw the final consolidation of the reign of King Henry VII and his new Tudor dynasty. The slaughter which followed was brutal and bloody, even by the standards of the day. St Oswald was witness to this.
St Oswald also has Paranormal provenance. It contains the statue of a large Angel Gravestone, still standing today, which is known to weep real tears. Local people believe the Angel weeps because of the slaughter of the Battle of Stoke Field. However, the statue itself is only about 100 years old.
This upload is to serve posterity in regard to the many other Georgian and Victorian Graves which still exist. Many of them are in a sad state of decay, having been subject to the ravages of time and the elements. This is the same story for old Gravestones up and down the country - within another generation, most of them will have been removed or crumbled away to dust - and when they are gone they are gone forever. This footage is to preserve their memory for future generations, so that future generations will have a record of their lost heritage.

Unity Mitford biography *Edited*
The edited version of Hitler's British girl without the segments trying to prove Unity was pregnant. These were removed as the claims couldn't be proven and distracted from an already interesting life story.

Hitler's British Girl [1/4]
On 3 September 1939, 25-year-old English aristocrat Unity Mitford walked into a Munich park and shot herself in the head. Distraught at the prospect of England declaring war on her beloved Fnhrer, Britain's most notorious Nazi sympathiser seemed determined to make the ultimate act of fanatical devotion.
One of the six Mitford sisters - siblings surrounded by controversy and the cause of much fascination - Unity's story has always been cloaked in secrecy and the source of decades of speculation. This film tells the extraordinary story of how Churchill's cousin fell under Hitler's spell and became one of his closest confidantes; spending five years with an astonishing ringside seat as he plotted global domination.
Unity's suicide attempt failed, and the programme charts her recovery, funded by Hitler himself, and her mysterious return to Britain in early 1940. The film unravels the rumours and looks at the myths that have always surrounded Unity - did she have a physical relationship with Hitler? Was she a British spy, targeted by the Gestapo? And what lay behind her convalescence in a discreet English clinic?
Notgrove St Bartholomew Cotswold churches
Notgrove lies a few miles to the west of Bourton-on-the-Water just off the A436. if there is a more picturesque village in England I have yet to see it. The church occupies a spur above a deep valley to the east of the manor house and is Norman in origin. It has many interesting monuments, a Saxon crucifix and a wonderful Madonna in early stained glass.
