★ St Peter's Year 7 Class of 2013 - Farewell Video ★
★ Graduation Speech for St Peter's Year 7 Class of 2013 ★
Thank you for this opportunity to share a few final words before sending you on your way.
Last week I attended the Australian training awards in Perth. An older gentleman by the name of Bert Evans was presented with a lifetime achievement award for services to industry and education. Bert shared a few words after the presentation. He challenged the 800 finalists and winners present at the ceremony with the following words: You can choose to be a follower and have an ordinary but comfortable life. But with your talent and this opportunity you have been given, you should choose to be a leader. While it's challenging and unpleasant at times, as a leader your life will be one of richness and great satisfaction.
These wise words really resonated with me and I have been pondering his challenge and what it means for students with their life still ahead of them. Comfortable ordinariness ????. A rich legacy and a life of tremendous satisfaction???.
How then do you know if you are leader? How do you choose to be? Leaders know that they can make a difference, they set out to improve things, do things more efficiently, more productively, even more enjoyably. Not only do they have an idea, something worth striving for, they can convince others to join them, to follow them. They can persuade others to strive for the same goal, to be committed to the same cause. It is not that easy and never comfortable. You will have many unpleasant moments where personal doubt and team conflict will make you wonder if it is not easier to be a follower, to retreat to a life of ordinariness.
I have a simple test that you could try to find out if you have this leadership desire. Are you the sort of person who watches someone do something while in your own mind you find yourself saying that you could do a better job? As you watch the person or the process do you imagine a better, more efficient way? The key point here is that you have these thoughts in your mind, and they aren't public comments or criticisms of the person or process you were observing. If the thoughts come out of your mouth, then it's not leadership potential you are recognising, you're just being smart alec or a show off!
The next step in my test is whether you just talk the talk or whether you can walk the walk the walk. That better way that you imagined, that original inspiration, can you turn it into a reality?
The third step is whether you can take criticism and feedback. Are you open to the advice and suggestions of people whose opinion you value? Can you put their advice into practice to tweak and refine your idea?
The final step is whether you are determined and resilient. Will you give up after your first, second or third attempt? Will the smirks, criticism and back stabbing of others send you back to the anonymity of the follower, Bert's description of a life of comfortable ordinariness? You see leaders aren't defined by their peers. They can stand out and not be influenced by the majority. They dance to their own tune, march to a different drum. They are courageous and stand up for their dream, their purpose and their loyalty to others.
I mentioned earlier that your parents have given you every opportunity to be great leaders, and you may be wondering how.
You see we sit under the gaze of the greatest leader the world has ever known. Hanging on this cross is the icon of a man who exhibited all of the qualities I have just mentioned. By placing you in this school, your parents recognise that the lessons we learn from this Christian tradition, are the greatest lessons in life, the perfect blue print to follow for a life with purpose and greatness.
Regardless of whether you are destined to be a leader or a follower, gaze upon this cross and remember the example you have learned while at St Peters. Gaze upon this cross and decide never to give up! Stand up for what you believe in and decide now what you stand for and what you won't stand for. Search for aspects of life, beginning with your own life that can be done better and be determined to reach these goals no matter what the cost.
So you see, we can stand for nothing and accept an ordinary but comfortable life. Stand for something, meet conflict, confusion and doubt head on and never give up. Use all of the opportunity you have been given and aspire to lead!
I wish you every success in your secondary schooling and in whatever life you choose. May this symbol always bless you and inspire you.
Thank You !

CRHnews - Bishop John Gladwin's jazzy installation
Bishop John Gladwin, the ninth Bishop of Chelmsford and the sixth to have been called John, retired in 2009.
He had been the head of the Church of England Diocese which covers Essex and the five London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest.
Bishop John was installed at Chelmsford Cathedral in January 2004 where after the formal service the jazz lover joined the band he had booked up for an improvised sing song, before he and Lydia symbolically swept the floor with a new broom.
The Right Revd also retired in jazz style at Chelmsford Cathedral with a Thanksgiving service attended by hundreds of people with eight bishops and eight mayors from different parts of Essex.
A foot tapping jazz reception followed in St Mary's with representatives from all facets of community life in the county and in East London with its 612 Anglican churches.
The service led by the Bishop John from his cathedra included tributes from the Lord Lieutenant, the Lord Petre; Canon John Spence, chairman of the diocesan finances; Judith Judd, representing clergy wives and Dr Daleep Mukarji, secretary-general of Christian Aid. Lessons were read by the RC Bishop of Brentwood, the Right Revd Thomas McMahon and by Mrs Lydia Gladwin.
Peter Nardone, director of music at the Cathedral ,included his own his own farewell anthem in the service.
Treasury minister, Stephen Timms, MPs Simon Burns and Eric Pickles, and Lady Platt of the House of Lords were among those present.
After laying down his pastoral staff across the altar at the end of the service, the Bishop and his wife proceeded down the nave to meet members of the huge congregation after listening to Reflection in D, by Duke Ellington played by the Music Hors d'oeuvre Jazz Band.

Brentwood Cathedral Bishop of Brentwood Father Alan Williams Gerald 6th Duke of Sutherland Identity
CATHOLIC CHURCH PRESS OFFICE - OFCOM DSMA-NOTICE NEWS MEDIA BLACKOUT:
MAINSTREAM NEWS MEDIA EXTRACTS:
The Carroll Foundation Trust and parallel Gerald 6th Duke of Sutherland Trust multi-billion dollar corporate identity theft offshore tax fraud bribery case which is encircling the former HM Attorney General Dominic Grieve QC has revealed that the entire contents of Gerald Carroll’s multi-million dollar Eaton Square Belgravia penthouse and Westminster residences in central London were completely stolen including the theft of priceless US Anglo-Irish Scottish Russian national treasures and rare illuminated manuscripts collections dating from the thirteenth century.
It is understood that the world renowned Carroll Chair of Irish History attached to Hertford College Oxford University and the Carroll Institute academic research establishment have also been a victim of the FBI Scotland Yard “targeted” Slaughter & May and Withersworldwide law firms trans-national crime syndicate operation which is known to continue to operate in the offshore tax havens of the Bahamas Gibraltar and the City of London with impunity.
Sources have confirmed that the former Kent Police Service Chief Constable Mike Fuller also a former Crown Prosecution Service Chief Inspector is understood to have been “directly involved” in the forging and falsifying of “criminal justice act” victims statements in this case of international importance.
Further sources have disclosed that the Kent Police Service dossiers contain a comprehensive forensic treatment of the Belgravia and Westminster criminal seizure and theft offences which are “directly linked” to the high value crime scene locations “centered around” Red Storage Dartford Kent Alban Shipping Luton Bedfordshire Crown Recovery Ltd Kemp Road Dagenham Essex Five Oaks Lane Hainault Essex and the Culver Square Shopping Centre Colchester Essex.
Scotland Yard leaked sources have said that private investigators who are thought to be working on behalf of a US Government sponsored organisation have disclosed that the concealed Dominic Grieve QC and Kent Police Service dossiers contain compelling evidential material which reflects a startling litany of major obstruction offences that effectively impulsed the shocking break-ins burglaries and multiple seizures.
This source also revealed that a further bewildering five hundred and seventy five million dollars of the Carroll Foundation Trust worldwide interests have been continually exposed to what is believed to be one of the most dangerous white collar syndicates ever confronted by the authorities in living memory.
In a stunning twist it has emerged that the yet another former Kent Police Service Chief Constable Robert Ayling along with his son the current Metropolitan Police Borough Commander for Westminster Peter Ayling are also facing major allegations of obstruction racketeering and bribery surrounding criminal offences which were conducted by the North Kent Police Station “in concert” with the Metropolitan Police West End Central Police Station in what is known to have been a bungled attempt to conceal the magnitude of this white collar organised crime case.
The Carroll Foundation Trust files are held within a complete lockdown at the FBI Washington DC field office and the Metropolitan Police Service Scotland Yard London under the supervision of the Commissioner Cressida Dick QPM who has an intimate knowledge of this case which stretches the globe.

Prayer at Bethel - London's Riverside Church
At Bethel - London’s Riverside Church, we do not believe that prayer is a ministry for one or two, but the ministry of the church that we are all to be involved in whatever our age. Prayerlessness is our declaration of independence from God, so we seek to make prayer vital to every part of ministry. Our goal is to be a church that truly prays.
