Repton, Derbyshire - Summer 2007. St Wystan's Church, Repton School and open gardens visit.
This is a quick video of bits I filmed in summer 2007 at the village of Repton, Derbyshire.
This is one of the rare days in summer 2007 that it did not rain !!!!
The footage includes the main street in Repton, a view of St Wystan's Church, Various shots of Repton School and gardens and finally a view of an open garden with a nice brook flowing through it and a set of cascading ponds. I wish my garden was as nice as this, I would love a brook or stream in it. As long as there is no chance of it flooding of course !
The garden was open to the public as part of The National Garden Scheme. This allows you to wander around peoples gardens for a small donation so you can appreaciate just how crap your own garden is.
These are normally open in the summertime, so look out for the yellow HGS signs in villages about this time of year. Unless of course you are reading this in the winter time, in which case you will have to wait until the summer. If its Autumn now then you will have a long wait until next year.

The mass haunting of Repton Church : The Demonic Ghost & The Goblins
A site survey of the Haunted Graveyard. St Wystan Church is located in Repton, Derbyshire, England. Originally a Saxon church, St Wystan is home to the Graves of some of the Kings from Saxon England. Buried there include - Ethelbald ( died 757 AD ), Wiglaf ( died 839 AD ) and Wigstan ( died 849 AD ). Repton church was a very holy site to the Saxon christians. However it is not the Ghosts of Saxon Kings who Haunt the church and Graveyard, but other entities. There are at least 6 known Hauntings at Repton :
1 ) A Demonic Ghost, perpetually swarthed in smoke, who sits upon the Gravestones. A potent of death or disaster for those unfortunate to see him.
2 ) A Hooded Monk, seen to drift in and out of the stone walls of the church. Believed to exist in an underground cavern known as ' Anchor Cavern '.
3 ) The Ghost of a James Wheldon, a murderer who killed Samuel Marshall (aged 21) back in 1786 AD, but escaped justice at trial due to lack of evidence. The Ghost of James Wheldon has been seen laying flowers on Samuel Marshall's Grave.
4 ) A group of Goblins, probably the oldest Haunting at Repton, are said to haunt the Graveyard at night. If caught, these Goblins are said to grant a wish to their captor in exchange for their freedom. But the wish must not benefit the asker - otherwise the wish will turn into a curse and come back on the asker.
5 ) The Ghost of a 17th Century gravedigger, a previous church employee, has been seen to wander throughout the Graves.
6 ) The Humming Ghost. A Spirit which never materialises to the eyes of the living but communicates by humming.
St Wystan Church is one of the oldest and most haunted churches in the entire United kingdom. The Ghost of the Saxon King Ethelbald, whose remains lie within the vaults, does not Haunt this site but the site of his bloody murder back in 757 AD.
