St. Aidan's Cathedral is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ferns. It is located in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, in Ireland. It was built in 1843 and was designed by Augustus Welby Pugin. The saint to whom the cathedral is dedicated is Máedóc of Ferns , also known as Áedan or Aidan, who died in 626, and not to be confused with St. Aidan of Lindisfarne , an Irish missionary who died in 651. Notable features include the façade, a reredos carved from Caen stone and a great north window with intricate stone tracery. The cathedral was subsequently much renovated in line with reforms promulgated by the Second Vatican Council. It was restored to its near original design in 1994 when authentic colours, materials and techniques were used. The restoration took a year, during which time cathedral services were held at St Mary's church nearby. The cathedral is similar in structure to St Mary's Cathedral, Killarney.

Ferns - Introduction to 'Discovering St Aidan's Monastery'

IAFS have received Ministerial Consent to conduct archaeological excavations at the site of St Aidan’s Monastery in Ferns, Co Wexford from summer 2020. The archaeological excavations – under the title ‘Discovering St Aidan’s Monastery’ – will undoubtedly be the largest project the IAFS undertake in Ferns. The initial phase of our work is supported as part of a larger project entitled Rediscovering Ancient Connections (or Ancient Connections Project), a new cross-border arts and heritage project linking Pembrokeshire and Wexford. Enniscorthy's Day of 1916 Remembrance

The annual Easter Monday Ceremony of Remembrance took place today in Enniscorthy, one of the few locations outside of Dublin to mobilise and raise the tricolour over the Athenaeum Hall during the 1916 Rebellion.
Chairman of Enniscorthy Municipal District Council, Cllr Keith Doyle, led the annual official ceremony which commenced with Remembrance Mass celebrated in St. Aidan's Cathedral by Fr Billy Swan.

St Aidan's Church is located south east of Perth in Western Australia. The little hut called home was replaced with a beautiful church and community centre in 2010 and now has a small Opp Shop and Cafe. Services are held each Sunday at 10am.
