Canada: Prince Edward Island
On the day we drove from New Brunswick to PEI, it was raining and very windy. Navigating the car on the confederation bridge, which is 8 miles in length, turned out to be nerve racking. Truck was banned to pass on the day due to the weather.
The waves at Prince Edward National Park beach were strong, but looked awesome!
The next morning, the waves were still heavy, but the sky had turned to cloudy and eventually to clear.
Charlottetown is the capital and largest city of the Prince Edward Island, and the county seat of Queens County. Named after Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, queen consort of the United Kingdom.
Popular attractions within the city include the Province House, which hosted the Charlottetown Conference in 1864, the spirit of Confederation was born, ultimately leading to the founding of Canada.
Confederation Center of the Arts has a replica of the Province House and 20-minute video about the 1864 conference. The Center hosts many displays and a theater featuring the musical “Anne of green gables”.
St. Paul's Anglican Church has a wooden interior that looks like a upside down boat. The acoustic of the church is excellent.
Just a couple of blocks across, is the St. Dunstan's Basilica, with it's ornately decorated interior.
We left the island with a ferry ride along with our car, from Wood Islands, PEI to Caribou, Nova Scotia. This is a 75-minute cruise.

I had the extremely rare opportunity to climb the Steeple of St. Dunstan's Basilica Roman Catholic Church in Charlottetown. Inside there was a couple of the bells up with more to come.

Maritime of My Life (Pt. 43) - Seeing What's Going Down in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (PEI)
July 5, 2017 - On my first night in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, I get my bearings by exploring the downtown core of this delightfully small city on this beautiful little island province.
I see sights such as City Hall, Victoria Park, Charlottetown Harbour, mighty oak trees, the cruise port, the Harbour Hippo, Peake's Quay, Queen Street, Victoria Row, and the main shopping district downtown, plus the spires of St. Dunstan's Basilica Cathedral and, of course, Province House, the birthplace of confederation of my home and native land.
