Daymer Bay, Cornwall - Flood Warnings at High Tide October 2012
Most of the south west had weather warning for 60 mph winds, but we were more interested in the High Tides & flood alerts. This is Daymer Bay, Trebetherick, Cornwall. My home. Only steps to beach were inaccessible due to fierce waves crashing on to the beach at high tide. Surfer dudes were making use of great waves. October 17th 2012
North Cornwall Walk from Padstow to Polzeath and Pentire Point
On holiday in Cornwall again. A walk starting after the Blacktor ferry from Padstow to Rock, then across the Enodoc golf course to Daymar with just a brief homage to the final resting place of Sir John Betjeman, before walking the road from Daymar Bay then dropping down to Polzeath via Shiller Mill and Valley Caravan Park. Across Polzeath beach to gain the lower slopes of Pentire. An easy stroll to the top then return via the coastal path around Bray Hill to hopefully catch the ferry at its lower landing spot, which will save around half a mile. Most welcome at this stage of the walk with Parkinson’s issues creeping in and stiffening the muscles. Love this walk and hope to keep walking it for years to come.

Meditation on the A30 - John Betjeman
A man on his own in a car
Is revenging himself on his wife;
He open the throttle and bubbles with dottle
and puffs at his pitiful life
She's losing her looks very fast,
she loses her temper all day;
that lorry won't let me get past,
this Mini is blocking my way.
Why can't you step on it and shift her!
I can't go on crawling like this!
At breakfast she said that she wished I was dead-
Thank heavens we don't have to kiss.
I'ld like a nice blonde on my knee
And one who won't argue or nag.
Who dares to come hooting at me?
I only give way to a Jag.
You're barmy or plastered, I'll pass you, you bastard-
I will overtake you. I will!
As he clenches his pipe, his moment is ripe
And the corner's accepting its kill.
