Sunday Morning Mashup
What we do on a Sunday morning!
9:00 am. St Andrew's Walkerville. A good 1886 Mears six in the suburbs with some very scary ladders to the ringing chamber and clock room that need to be scaled to lift the clock hammer off the tenor (the hammers for the chimes can be pulled off from the ringing chamber). Ringing here was call changes, a bit lumpy in places due to a less experienced band.
9:30 am. St Cuthbert's Prospect. A 1971 Taylor eight hung in an interesting detached campanile with a sub ground level ringing chamber. Ringing here was call changes on the back six, Grandsire doubles on the front five with three cover bells and lowering the
trebles.
10:00 am. St Peter's Cathedral North Adelaide. A magnificent 1946 Taylor octave and the heaviest peal of bells outside of Britain and Ireland. Ringing here was call changes on all eight.
10:30 am. St Francis Xavier RC Cathedral. A decent Mears/Whitechapel 12 that leave a lot to be desired acoustically. The bells are quite flighty for their weight, and there is a very long draught between the ringers and the bells. Ringing here was rounds on ten.

ANZAC Day Bellringing
ANZAC Day Bellringing at St Peters Cathedral in Adelaide.
For the first time since the bells were installed in 1946, the bells were rung for 3 hours and 45 minutes in a half-muffled peal.
It sounded absolutely beautiful and was a perfect backdrop to the ANZAC Day parade that was heading towards the Cross of Sacrifice across the road
There was a video screen in the front foyer where you could watch the bellringing happening live.
It was quite incredible!

Wassailing, St Weonards, Herefordshire January 2012
Mummers play, following the wassail in south Herefordshire, to celebrate the new year and to hope for a good harvest of cider apples in the autumn....
Ringing at Bewdley, Worcestershire
Yorkshire on the Rudhall eight at Bewdley. The church has a commanding position at the top of the high street, and dates completely from the 18th century. The tower is rather tall and moves a considerably which makes the bells quite unpredictable at times, even though they go well. This was the 8th and final tower of the Kimpton outing which rounded off a very enjoyable few days in Leeds :)
