Come Ye Thankful People Come - Henry Alford - HD
Come, Ye Thankful People, Come is an English Christian harvest festival hymn written in 1844 by Henry Alford. It is often sung to the tune St. George's, Windsor by George Job Elvey.
Alford wrote Come, Ye Thankful People, Come in 1844 while he was the rector of Aston Standford church in Buckinghamshire, England. It was first published in Hymns and Psalms in 1844 with seven verses under the title After Harvest. Come, Ye Thankful People, Come was set to George J. Elvey's hymn tune St. George's, Windsor in 1858. In 1865, Alford revised the hymn, and it was republished in his Poetical Works with only four verses. In 1861 there had been a number of unofficial revisions of the hymn, including in one in Hymns Ancient and Modern, which led to Alford publishing a footnote in Poetical Works stating his disapproval of these revisions that had been made without his agreement. Despite this, Alford revised the hymn again in 1867 in Year of Praise. Alford was a moderate who attempted to keep good relations between non-conformists and the High Church Anglicans in the Church of England: Come, Ye Thankful People, Come is Alford's only hymn that is found in evangelical hymn books. The hymn later gained popularity in the United States where it is used as part of Thanksgiving celebrations.
The first verse is written as a celebration of the harvest, calling for people to give thanks to God for it. The last two verses are based on the Parable of the Tares, and discuss the last harvest at the Second Coming of Christ.
Text: Henry Alford, 1810-1871
Music: George J. Elvey, 1816-1893
Lyrics in Public Domain
Come, ye thankful people, come;
Raise the song of harvest home.
All is safely gathered in
Ere the winter storms begin.
God, our Maker, doth provide
For our wants to be supplied.
Come to God's own temple, come;
Raise the song of harvest home.
All the world is God's own field,
Fruit unto his praise to yield,
Wheat and tares together sown,
Unto joy or sorrow grown.
First the blade, and then the ear,
Then the full corn shall appear.
Lord of harvest, grant that we
Wholesome grain and pure may be.
For the Lord our God shall come,
And shall take the harvest home;
From His field shall in that day
All offences purge away,
Giving angels charge at last
In the fire the tares to cast;
But the fruitful ears to store
In the garner evermore.
Then, thou Church triumphant come,
Raise the song of harvest home!
All be safely gathered in,
Free from sorrow, free from sin,
There, forever purified,
In God's garner to abide;
Come, ten thousand angels, come,
Raise the glorious harvest home!

INSIDE A MORMON TEMPLE
A Commandment with Blessings
From the days of the Old Testament, the Lord has commanded His people to build temples-sacred structures where He could teach, guide, and bless them. For example, the Lord told the Israelites to build a portable tabernacle that would be their temple while they traveled in the wilderness (see Exodus 26-27; 40:35). Additional Old Testament references to temples are found in 2 Chronicles 5:1-14; 7:1-2 (Temple of Solomon) and Ezra 3:1-13; 6:3 (Temple of Zerubbabel).
Experienced Criminal Defense - Aric Cramer, Criminal Defense Lawyer St George, Utah
ARIC CRAMER, St. George Criminal Defense Lawyer:
My qualifications as an attorney, especially in criminal defense, are fairly extensive. I've been in practice for 26 years. I'm certified as death penalty qualified in the state of Utah. And I'm also a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, as well as the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals and all of the Utah courts.
My approach to each case is to take a look at the individual and the circumstances as to how they come to be stopped or charged by law enforcement.
Each case is a different creature, just like every person is different. So I want to look at it very carefully and make sure that I get all of the details both about my client and the circumstances.
Call me about any problems that you may have with law enforcement or any charges against you because I have seen and done almost every type of case there is. I have a vast depth of experience, and I can help you with your problem.

Crowds Flock to Swig Drink Shack in St. George
By: Ladd Egan(KUTV) People waiting in a long line in St. George are all after the same thing: a dirty fountain drink from a small snack shop named Swig. Dirty means coconut, explained Swig owner Nicole Tanner, who opened the drive-thru drink stand three years ago today.Using flavored syrups and fruit purees, Swig offers flavored sodas, snow cones and smoothies. Nobody does dirty Dr. Pepper like Swig does, said Provo resident Brittani Cardoso, who frequented Swig while a student at Dixie State. I actually lived right across the street so we used to come daily, so now I just crave it up in Provo.They have the best Diet Coke in the world, said St. George resident Morgan Empey, who comes to Swig daily. Im an every-day swigger!The first location on the corner of Tabernacle St. and 1000 East became so popular, with the line of cars stretching out the parking lot and around the corner, that Tanner and her husband rushed to open a second location on 300 West and St. George Blvd. The last year it has really skyrocketed, Tanner said of business. Its turned into a destination.The most popular drink combination is a Dirty Dr. Pepper, Tanner said, followed my Mango Mountain DewAs you put it in the soda it dissolves and so it gives it a real fruity, yummy taste, Tanner said of the mango puree. Its not just the drinks bringing the crowds to Swig. Sugar cookies, frosted on the spot with pink icing, are becoming so popular that both locations frequently run out of hundreds of cookies by late afternoon. Tanner said her husband thought of the idea for Swig while they were brainstorming business ideas one night. Hes like: How about a drive-by drink stop? and Im like: You know what, I think that could totally work, Tanner recalls.People thought we were crazy, Tanner said of the response they got when they told people about their idea. Part of the appeal of Swig, Tanner explains, is that moms can use the drive-thru and dont have to get their kids unbuckled or out of car seats. Swig is just a huge blessing, Tanner said. Every day we cant believe that this has turned into what it is, because we started it from infancy.(Copyright 2013 Sinclair Broadcasting Group.)

Celebrating Pioneer Day
Today, we celebrate and honor the legacy of faith, hard work, and innovation of the courageous pioneers who, fearing no toil nor labor, journeyed west into the Salt Lake Valley. On Pioneer Day, I think specifically of my pioneer ancestors. My 2x-great grandfather, Miles Romney, designed the famous spiral staircases in the St. George Tabernacle and my other 2x-great grandfather, Parley P. Pratt, advanced Brigham Young’s route to the Salt Lake Valley. Wishing all Utahns a wonderful Pioneer Day!
