If you understand the scheduled of a realtor, you know we work weird hours. Basically, we are “on call” all the time. So, in order to keep one’s mental health in order, a vacation is necessary. And of course, a vacation is included in my favorite thing’s playlist category.
This year we chose St. Lucia. The island was beautiful, and the people were friendly. Our accommodations were located in an area called Marigot Bay St Lucia. We rented a home and decided to get the full island experience. From renting a car, to local grocery stores / roadside fruit stands, we did it all. We met many lovely people and felt like they were our friends by the time we left on our final day.
So, a big thanks to the staff at Oasis Marigot, including Trevor, Curtis, Mandella and super big thanks to Mr. Regis for the personal tour!

Saint Lucia is an island nation in the Caribbean. It is part of the Windward Islands in the Lesser Antilles of the Eastern Caribbean. St Lucia was named after Saint Lucy of Syracuse by French sailors that were shipwrecked on the island.
St Lucia is known for its volcanic terrain, clear blue waters, lush greenery, and white sand beaches. Saint Lucia’s two volcanic peaks, the Pitons consisting of the Gros Piton and Petit Piton are among the island’s most notable features.
St Lucia was inhabited by the Caribs before becoming colonized by the British and the French. St Lucia gained its independence from Britain on February 22 1979. The capital of St Lucia is Castries. Points of interest in St Lucia include the Hewanorra House, Heraldine Rock Building, King George V Gardens, Parliament of St Lucia, Bideau Park, Constitution Park, Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC), Bank of St Lucia, Government House, The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission, Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), Inniskilling Monument, Soufriere, Morne Coubaril Estate, Sulphur Springs, Balenbouche Estate, Pigeon Island, the Pitons, and Fort Rodney. Breathtaking views of St Lucia can be seen from Fort Rodney.
The headquarters of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) are located in St Lucia.

Anse la raye –
Anse La Raye is the largest town in Anse la Raye Quarter, Saint Lucia. It is located on the island's western side, near Marigot Bay, and has several examples of French and English colonial architecture. The name Anse la Raye is derived from the rays that are found in the bay, the English translation means Bay of Rays. On a Friday night there is a fish fry where the local fishermen showcase their skills and where lobsters, fish and lambi (conch) are cooked and eaten. The fish fry is located on Front Street which runs parallel to the beach.

Canaries-
Canaries (or Kanawe in Creole) is located on the West Coast of Saint Lucia. It is a small fishing village and it is nestled along the West Coast road, between Anse La Raye and Soufriere, and there are scenic views from both the Northern and Southern approaches. Until the 1960s there was no road transport to the village and it was only accessible by boat. Since the construction of the West Coast Road it is a stop on the road between Castries and Soufriere. The name Kanawe is derived from the Amerindian word for cooking pots, in the past Canaries had a large sugar plantation that ran inland up the valley that stretches in an eaterly direction from the village.

Former Tourism Minister Allen Chastanet says American Eagle is pulling out of Saint Lucia.
Mr. Chastanet, who was also responsible for Civil Aviation in the last administration, has disclosed that the carrier will cease flights here in August.
MARKET FORCES
The National Consumers Association has warned against the creation of monopolies in Saint Lucia, as Gablewoods Supermarket changes hands.
As of January 1st this year the Trinidad company -- Neal and Massy is the sole shareholder of the supermarket.
