Germany: The Town of Stralsund seen from the the tower of the St. Marien Church
Stralsund is a Hanseatic town in the Pomeranian part of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is located at the Southern coast of the Strelasund, a sound or strait of the Baltic Sea separating the island of Rügen from the mainland.
As we were up there the weather was not at its best. A strong wind and pouring rain made it not so easy to make very good pictures. Nevertheless they give you a small impression of the attractiveness of this town.
Since 2002, Stralsund's old town with its rich heritage is honored as a UNESCO World Heritage, along with Wismar in Mecklenburg.

In summer 2018 I climbed the tower of the Marienkirche in Stralsund, a city by the coast in North-Eastern Germany. It was some good cardio on a hot day but the view was totally worth it.

Germany: The City of Stralsund
Stralsund is a Hanseatic city in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is located at the Southern coast of the Strelasund (a sound of the Baltic Sea separating the island of Rugia from the mainland.
The old town island of Stralsund was awarded World Heritage status by UNESCO in 2002. It features many important historical buildings from different eras, even going back to Gothic times.
The main landmark of Stralsund is its extraordinary Brick Gothic city hall from Hanseatic times. This building from 1278 features a remarkable 'show façade' that serves the sole purpose of displaying wealth of the city. Citizens can walk through the city hall and its gallery like they could walk any other street.
The heart of the old town is the Old Market Square (Alter Markt), with the Gothic Town Hall (13th century). Behind the town hall soars the imposing Nikolaikirche (St. Nicholas' Church), built in 1270–1360. The square is surrounded by houses from different periods.

Die Hansestadt Stralsund ist Welterbe der UNESCO und eine typische Mittelalterliche Hansestadt. Der Stadtgrundriss mit dem Gefüge aus engen Straßen, Plätzen, Quartiere und Grundstücken hat sich Stralsund bis heute bewart. Aus verschiedenen Epochen sind Giebelhäuser, Kirchen, Klöster und das Rathaus aus Backstein erhalten und zeugen noch heute, vom erworbenen Reichtum im Seehandel der Hanse.
Bei einem kleinen Stadtrundgang, vom Hafen in die Altstadt, kann man sich noch heute in die Zeit der Mittelalterlichen Hanse zurückversetzen und viele Eindrücke sammeln.

Die St. - Marien - Kirche in der Hansestadt Stralsund in Deutschland wurde in der Backsteinbauweise errichtet und ist die jüngste gotische Basilika im nordischen Raum. Das Bauwerk wurde zum größten Teil in rotem Backstein errichtet, wobei die westlichen Türme bis in eine Höhe von 36 Metern mit Kalkstein verblendet sind und für den Sockelbereich Granitstein verwendet wurde. Besonders beeindruckend sind die gotischen Malereien aus dem 15. Jahrhundert und das Kruzifix, welches Jesus nicht hängend, sondern stehend und mit leicht geneigtem Kopf zeigt. Ebenso beeindruckend ist die Stellwagen - Orgel mit ihrem herrlichen Klang. Man kann auch Bewertungen und Fotos in Tripadvisor finden.

The St. Marien Church in the Hanseatic city of Stralsund in Germany was built in brick construction style and is the youngest Gothic basilica in the Nordic area. The structure was mostly built in red brick, with the western towers are limed to a height of 36 meters with limestone and was used for the base area granite stone. Particularly impressive are the Gothic paintings from the 15th century and the crucifix, which shows Jesus not hanging, but standing and with a slightly tilted head. Kościół St. Marien w hanzeatyckim mieście Stralsund w Niemczech został zbudowany w stylu ceglanym i jest najmłodszą gotycką bazyliką w Skandynawii. Budowla została zbudowana głównie z czerwonej cegły, z zachodnimi wieżami wapnowanymi do wysokości 36 metrów z wapieniem i została wykorzystana jako granitowy kamień bazowy. Szczególnie imponujące są gotyckie malowidła z XV wieku i krucyfiks, który pokazuje Jezusa nie wiszącego, ale stojącego i lekko przechyloną głowę.
