St. Michaels Md
St. Michaels is located on the Miles River in Talbot County, Maryland, USA. It's name comes from a 1677 Episcopal Parish whose settlers engaged in farming tobacco and building ships. They built a fast schooner - later known as the Baltimore clipper -- to evade blockades or to outrun pirates or foreign naval vessels.
As shipbuilding declined, the oyster industry grew. By the late 1800’s, most people were either tonging oysters or working in shucking houses. Coulbourne and Jewett, founded in the early 1900’s, is notable as a black-owned enterprise who specialized in crabmeat. Frederick Jewett devised the five level grading system (regular, claw, special, backfin, and lump) still used today.
The video features the Hooper Straight Lighthouse, Harbour Inn, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum Marina, Oyster Buildings, and The Inn at Perry Cabin.

St. Michaels Island, Maryland - September 9. 2017
Calling itself The Heart & Soul of the Chesapeake Bay, the town of Saint Michaels, Maryland retains the look and feel of a 19th century seaport. Walk on red brick sidewalks past the Victorian homes and boutique shops of the historic district, or head down to the pier in search of famously fresh seafood. The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum preserves the history of Saint Michaels, with restored examples of bugeyes and skipjacks, unique boats developed by the fisherman of Chesapeake Bay.
National Museum of the Pacific War: Visit Fredericksburg TX
Originally named the Admiral Nimitz Museum and housed in the historic Nimitz Steamboat Hotel on Main Street in Fredericksburg, the National Museum of the Pacific War has grown into a six-acre campus with more than 50,000 square feet of exhibit space.
Today, the museum includes exhibits on the life and career of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, who commanded U.S. and allied naval forces in the Pacific War, and who was born right here in Fredericksburg.
It also includes displays of Allied and Japanese aircraft, tanks, guns, other artifacts and, the most moving of all, the personal stories of our troops.
On scheduled weekends throughout the year, the Pacific Combat Zone is the site of a living history program. Re-enactors bring World War II to life by demonstrating the weapons and discussing the tactics and strategy that won the war.
The grounds also include a Memorial Courtyard, a Plaza of Presidents and a Japanese Garden of Peace.
All museum properties are accessible by wheelchair, and group tours and school groups are welcome. Tickets are good for 48 hours.
Come visit the only institution in the continental United States dedicated exclusively to telling the story of the Pacific Theater battles of World War II. The Wall Street Journal said, A museum of this quality—and importance—needs to be seen...

Tenterden St. Michael's railway station October 2016
Tenterden St. Michael's was a railway station on the Kent and East Sussex Railway which served the Tenterden suburb of St Michaels in Kent, England. The station was situated on the southern side of a level crossing to the south of St. Michael's tunnel, one of the line's main civil engineering features. Closed in 1954, nothing remains of St. Michael's today: a footpath and cycleway runs through the site
History
Tenterden St. Michael's was opened in 1912 to serve the local community of St Michaels on the outskirts of Tenterden. It was situated immediately south of the ungated level crossing over Grange Road.
St. Michael's was little more than a halt station consisting of no more than a single platform made of sleepers and, for some time, a small corrugated iron hut which served as a ticket office.[5] So modest were the facilities that the wooden picket gate leading from the road for the use of passengers has been described as more obvious than the halt itself.By August 1938, the ticket office had closed and passengers were obliged to purchase their tickets on the train; the station had also become run-down and the track weed-strewn. It had fallen into a dangerous and decrepit state by 1953, the condition of the platform sleepers having seriously deteriorated.Regular passenger services on the line were withdrawn after the last train on Saturday 2 January 1954.
The line was engineered and operated by Colonel H F Stephens. One of his 'bigger' feats was St Michaels Tunnel, located just north of the halt.

Sitka Russian Bishop's House Tour & Church (St Michael's Cathedral) (4K)
Take a look inside the famous Russian Bishop's House in Sitka, part of the Sitka National Historic Park. There was no entrance fee, and the tour was free, though you could donate money on the way out. It was interesting learning about Bishop Innocent of Russia's time in Alaska, and of course his base in Novoarkhangelsk (what Sitka used to be called). There was a museum, as well as many of the original furniture/walls of the house, including the dining room, guest rooms, living room, arctic entryway, bedroom/office, and the chapel.
Later on we also checked out St Michael's Cathedral nearby which Bishop Innocent held service at. Touring both places took roughly 90 minutes combined, and we enjoyed the experience.
Take a look at our Sitka Alaska playlist ( ) for videos on the other places we visited while in town during a 14 day Alaska cruise in June 2017.
