Brasov, Romania Travel - Visiting St. Nicholas Church in Brasov
Take a tour of Brasov St. Nicholas Church in Brasov, Romania -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
The Transylvania region of Romania is blessed with the earthy and plush city of Brasov.
Standing stern and magnanimously in the city's Union Square is the simple yet beckoning Saint Nicholas Church.
The journey of this structure began in the 14th century when it was a mere wooden church.
In the 15th century, efforts to reconstruct the building and transform it into a stone church began.
Today it is a sublime edifice which incorporates different architectural styles with Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance elements.
Emerging as an austere yet graceful monument, it modestly stands out to all of Brasov.
Saint Nicholas-Romanian Traditions
This is how we get ready to celebrate Saint Nicholas. Romanian children enjoy an extra special visit from a very kind man and we are getting ready to wait for him.

➤ Biserica din Densuş este cea mai veche biserica in care se mai tin slujbe si azi si una dintre cele mai controversate edificii. Nu este foarte clar cine sau cand a construit-o. BRASOV, Romania #traveldiary
Got to explore the lovely city of Brasov, a multicultural and eclectic region in Romania.
Brasov fascinates with its rich architecture: a cohesive blend of gothic, baroque, renaissance with scattered modern structures. Historically, it holds the name of Kronstadt and it is one of the seven walled citadels, as settled by the Saxons.
The medieval feel exudes through each piece and serves as inspiration for many film creators.
The main attractions include the old Town Hall Square (Piata Sfatului), the Black Church (Biserica Neagra), the Merchant`s House, the Defensive Fortifications with Graft and Blacksmith Bastions.
The most beautiful aerial view can be enjoyed from the top of Mount Tampa, where the original defensive fortress was built. When Vlad Tepes attacked Brasov in 1458-60, the citadel was destroyed and 40 merchants were impaled on top of the mountain.
Enjoy!

Braşov, Romania Travel Video
Braşov, Romania Travel Video - Legend has it the Pied Piper reemerged from Hamelin in Braşov, and indeed there's something whimsically enchanting about it, with its fairy-tale turrets and cobbled streets. Dramatically overlooked by Mt Tâmpa, with trees sporting a russet-gold coat (and cocky Hollywood-style sign), this is a remarkably relaxed city.
Wander its maze of streets, stopping for caffeine injections at bohemian cafes between losing yourself in a beguiling coalescence of Austro-Hungarian gingerbread roofs, baroque gods, medieval spires and Soviet flat-tops. The city's centrepiece square is Piaţa Sfatului, a people-watcher's mecca. There are myriad things to see here, great restaurants and oodles of accommodation.
Many use Braşov as a base for skiing in nearby Poiana Braşov, trekking in the Piatra Craiului National Park, castle-watching at Bran and hairy drives on the Transfăgărăşan Road.
