Morningside Farmers Market: Interview with Second Helpings
We interview Myron Smith, food donor coordinator for Second Helpings Atlanta, at Morningside Famers Market.
Second Helpings Atlanta has been in existence since 2004. We're all volunteers. We pick up food donations at farmers markets, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Publix, other establishments. We have over 400 volunteers. We pick up foods over 70-80 times per week. We've been picking up at Morninside Farmers Market since 2010. We take the food donations from here, to an organization called My Sister's House, it's a woman's shelter that's part of the Atlanta Mission. They house over 200 women and children. Sometimes, we also, if we get an abundant amount of donations from Morningside Farmers Market, we share it with the Atlanta Mission downtown, which is serving over 1,000 meals per day. Morningside Farmers Market is an incredible donor. We love the farmers here at Morningside Farmers Market.

IDHS EBT Project - Part 4

This Project provides wireless point-of-sales machines to qualified vendors across the state. This enables vendors to accept the EBT food assistance card, MasterCard or Visa, or Discover.
A video about the Iowa Wireless EBT Project and farmers markets is available. The video is in four parts, and you can view each part by clicking on the links below.

Minneapolis Public Schools Farm to School program
Changing institutions can be very difficult. Minneapolis school food service serves over 3 million lunches every year to students across the city. Many schools don't have kitchens, just areas to open cases and serve the food. School food revolutionary Bertrand Weber is looking to change that. He's trying to get more fresh real food into classrooms. We follow MPS food service into the farms they source from to understand how they are changing school food.
